They stand there, Harry and Matt holding hands tight, and Matt's parents - Grace and William looking at them with serious faces, Harry was about to leave, he didn't want to stand in the middle of this family drama, if they want to talk with him alone they should, but Matt hold his hand and looked at him like a lost puppy, Harry knew in that moment that he will defend his love with everything he has "so you invited us to watch you proposing?" Grace said "well... yes, I thought you said you wanted to give us a chance" Matt said "I think you're not thinking it all the way through, you're making a mistake, you're rushing into this, you can't do that" she said and Harry looked at the hurt expression that started to spread on Matt's face, that's it! "I don't think you have the right to say what he can or cannot do" Harry said and she looked at him with an angry expression "excuse me?" she said "Grace..." William tried to calm her down "no no, I want to hear what he has to say" Grace blow his hand off and looked at Harry, waiting for him to continue "well, I think Matt has every right to do what ever he wants to, he's a grown man" Harry said "since you found out about his sexuality you shut him out, how could you even do that? and now here you are, saying he's making a mistake? do you even know me? or our relationship? or even your son? Matt is the most amazing person I have ever met, he's thoughtful and kind, and he has so much love to give and you just threw him out because he's gay? please... you left him so you don't have the right to come here and tell him your crap, if you're not going to be supportive you're not welcome here" Harry said and hold his head up high, he won't let anyone hurt him, he looked at Matt who smiled at him "are you okay with him talking to me like that?" Grace asked Matt who warped his hand around Harry's waist "I couldn't say it better myself" Matt said with a proud smile on his face, Harry thought maybe this is the first time that Matt is actually standing up for himself in front of them, he was proud of him "why did you even come here? if all you planned to do was being judgmental?" Matt asked "I didn't thought this was your plan, i didn't know you were going to propose, it's seems like you didn't think about it all the way through, it's too soon, I thought maybe you just wanted us to go on a vacation together, to get to know him..." Grace said "well, you can't get to know him with that attitude" Matt said in a snarky voice, Harry hold himself so hard not to smile "and you can't say that it's soon, this is our decision, we didn't speak this year at all, you shut me out just because I love a guy? I'm your son!" Matt said and Harry hold his hand tightly, Matt was a little shaky, this is the first time that he told them what he thinks, Harry was so proud of him being that brave in front of them "I guess you're right... I just... it's hard for me to accept that, your new life, but I've come all the way here, I'm sure it's worth something" she said and Matt started to loosen up a little "of course it does, but maybe next time don't start the conversation with 'I think you've made a mistake' and just trust me that I know what is best for me? this all year Harry was the only one who was there for me, he took me into his home and helped me with everything I was dealing with, he loves me, for who I am, and I will lose everything and everyone before I lose him" Matt said and looked at Harry "I love that man, with all my heart and soul, he will be my husband, nothing you say would change that, we are a package deal, if you want to be a part of my life you will have to accept Harry, and the fact that I love him, and he loves me, can you live with that?" Matt asked and looked back at her, Harry couldn't resist the smile that came on his mouth, he never saw Matt so confident, he was so proud on the way he have made, Grace just looked at them without saying anything, it looked like she was still processing all of this in her head "I can try... if it's so important to you I won't stand in your way... I don't get it, but I can learn, I can try.. I just want my son back" she said and Harry felt his heart almost leaving his chest 'that's amazing!' he thought "we would love nothing more than be closer to you, it's ok to take some time to understand all of this, but if we work together I think it would be great" Harry said and broke the silence and surprised everyone "thank you, thank you for your understanding, I didn't expect that" she said and smiled a little, that was the first time that she smiled at him, that's nice of her "of course, it's a lot to take in" Harry said "and I think I understand why Matthew fell in love with you, just the way you protected him tells me a lot about you, I hope we can work things out together" she said and smiled lightly "I would love to, I will do anything for him, I want my fiancé to be happy, and I'm sure when you will get to know me you find out that I'm not so bad" Harry said and smiled at her "I'm looking forward to it" she said and offered her hand for him to shake, Harry shook her hand and she looked at Matt "can I please hug you?" she asked "of course mom" Matt said and let go of Harry hand and gave her a close hug, Harry looked at them with a wide smile, that meeting started so rough but turned out to be a good thing, he was happy for him, when they broke the hug William gave him a hug too and shook Harry's hand "I think we will go to our hotel, we will talk and meet again back home?" she asked and Matt nodded "I'm glad, good night, and congratulations" she said "thank you" both of them said together, they looked at each other and giggled, after they left them alone Harry sighed "I'm sorry for putting you through that... I couldn't handle them myself" Matt said with an apology look "don't worry about it, I'm glad I could be here for you" Harry smiled "and umm... I'm sorry if they ruined our party... I thought it would be a good idea but..." Matt mumbled but Harry stood on his tiptoes and silence him with a kiss "I don't care about it, you can't plan a wadding without a family drama, besides, it turned out to be a good thing" Harry coped his face and smiled "I really am the luckiest man alive..." Matt whispered and kissed his cheek "not lucky as I am..." Harry whispered back and hugged him close, he felt Matt's arms warping him so close, it felt like they are in their own personal heaven, it's just them, against the world.
