Gale's Girl

Its been about a month since I got put back in this hell hole. I haven't had many visitors...mostly Taylor but she seems too busy to come and see me. As I lay now, on my back, I realise that there is no one I have come to love since I've woken up with no memory. I mean, I love my brother but everyone else hates me and I don't see how I can fix things. The doctor says I have about three more months that I could remember stuff in. After that, its most likely that I will never be able to remember. The thought scares me, I still feel like a twelve year old girl that has been thrown into some crazy life!

"Ariel, how are you?" Dr Gale said as he entered my room for the first time in a week. The nurses have been the only ones looking after me.

"Fine," I said in mono-tone. I didn't want him to think I was mad at him coming in but I didn't want to seem to happy.

"Good to hear," he smiled. For the first time ever, I noticed a quiver in his lip.

"Are you okay?" I raised my eye brow.

"Just fine. Fine, fine, fine." I could see through his lie.

"What is it?" I asked.

"I don't want to be much of a bother but something has come up and this is the best room in the hospital and well, you know how it is..." he trailed off.

"Your moving me." I finished for him.

"Not exactly, you see, we gave you this room because you are our top priority right now. Everyone else has a few broken bones or burns and things that we can heal quickly."

I looked at him funny as he twirled his hand in his lap.

"My daughter was in an accident similar to yours except she remembers everything. She is in shock still and seems to be a little distant. Its not a big deal I guess, I just want my daughter to have a nice room." He finished.

So he was playing favourites? I hoped he saw the disgusted look on my face. "So you are moving me."

"No, I hoped you could share the room?"

I felt like the last person I expected to hate me, just threw me under a bus. I decided not to answer as he stared at me hopefully. The last bit of light in his eyes seemed to evaporate and my heart stung. Why was I being so cruel? Its his daughter! I would do the same for mine, if I had one.

"Fine," I said grimly.

"Oh thank you Ms Brooks!" He said and the light returned.

Moments later a small girl was wheeled in on the opposite side of the room as me. She appeared to be no older than I, I mean, she seemed no older than twelve. She had a pile of Teddy bears beside her that all had 'get well soon' written on them. I watched closely as she appeared to be lifeless. She didn't move or make a sound. She was curled up and buried under the blankets.

I decided it was best if i gave her some space, so I pulled out my magazine and began to read. I flipped the page and heard a slight squeek. I looked over at the girl and she had turned to lay on her back. I focused my attention on the book once more. Something caught my eye. It was Taylor and she seemed to be with a guy. I gasp is disbelief. Why wouldn't she have told me? I quickly reached for my phone which was on the bedside table, but it wasn't there. I look at the little girls bed but she wasn't there either. I sat up, startled, and looked around. She was sitting in the corner, on my phone.

"Excuse me?" I said sweetly as I could. "Could I have my phone back?"

She slowly looked up at me, then looked back down to whatever she was doing on my phone. I slowly got up and took a step toward her. Her head snapped up and she ran to the other side of the room.

"Easy, easy," I tried to sooth. "I just need my phone."

She stood up and slowly walked toward me. she had the phone out stretched in one hand and had a hint of a smile on her face.

"Thats it, good girl." I said as the phone was just inches from my hand.

That's when she snapped. She snatched the phone out of my reach and then threw it at my head. She then ran straight at me and gave me a good push so that I fell on my back. I tried to get up but she hit me with something that I couldn't see. That's when I started to black out. Everything seemed to be fading. The last thing I heard was the little girl screaming at the top of her lung as if she was on fire.

**********

My head was throbbing as I sat up quickly, as images of the girls attack flashed through my head. I looked over and she was now curled up the same way she was when she arrived. I quickly hit the panic button on the side of my bed and Dr. Gale came rushing in.

"Ah, Ariel! Great to see your okay." He smiled as if nothing had happened.

"What. The. Hell. Was. That!" I spat.

"I'm sorry Ariel, she is just a bit traumatized from her accident and hasn't liked people since. She likes to disconnect herself from her medications and fluids and do her own thing. She has never reacted like this before."

"Okay, just get that thing out of my room!" I cried as I looked back over at the girl who was snoring softly.

"Her name is Rebbecca, and we have tied her down to the bed so she can't disturb you anymore. I'm really sorry. Just give her another chance, please." He was practically begging.

I look at the girl again. She looked so harmless while she slept. "Fine," I agreed. "But if she puts another toe out of line, shes gone."

Dr. Gale smiled and left the room once more. I grumbled and pulled the magazine back to my noes. I studied the picture of her with some curly haired boy named Harry. So this is why she hasn't been visiting me? She's to busy with this guy that I don't even know? Taylor swift and Harry Styles of One Direction, have been spotted everywhere together. They're assumed to be dating, yet Harry denies it. The magazine shares. I can't believe she chose this guy over me. I may not remember her that well but she was the only company I had.

Just then, there was a squeak from the bed on the other side of the room. I quickly turned to face the girl who was staring back at me, but her eyes seemed to be softer then before.

"Hello," I tried to say without stuttering.

She continued to stare, then pulled the blanket over her head.

"You know, it wasn't very nice what you did. It really hurt." I muttered, assuming she wouldn't hear.

She pulled the blanket back down and stared at me with those icy eyes again. Sorry, she seemed to be mouthing but couldn't get the words out.

"Did you say sorry?"

She nodded once, then turned back around and began to snore again. This kid was freaking me out, but I had to make the best of it.
