My head spun a little bit. Did he just say...? Am I hearing thing?

"Sister. Our mom died.......giving birth....to our sister...?" I repeated.

Jake nodded slowly. He didn't have to say anything more. I knew he wouldn't lie to me about something like this. This....this was to much for me to handle. I started to hyperventilate and then it went black.

**Flashback***

"Mom? Where is my skip rope?" I called out.

I wanted to enjoy the sunshine while it was here this summer so I planned on going to the park with Jake. I couldn't seem to find my jump rope anywhere.

"Mom?" I called again.

There was no answer.

I panicked and ran to my mothers room at the end of the hall. The door was ajar so I let myself in. I heard sniffles from the bathroom and tapped lightly on the door.

"Mom? Are you okay?" I asked.

She opened the door. In her one hand was a pregnancy test. In the other was a cup with what smelt like urine.

"Mom?" I questioned.

She put the things down and scooped me up into her arms. "Baby girl, you're going to be a big sister!" She cried and kissed my cheek.

"What? Who is the father....." I asked cautiously.

"Steve," she smiled.

I began to cry and left my mother. I was furious! How could she do this to our life?

**End of Flashback**

I opened my eyes and saw Jake's panicked face above mine. I blinked a few times to make sure I was back in reality.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah.....I think.....I think I just remembered something. Who is Steve?" I asked glumly.

The name seemed to trigger something in Jake and he seemed to be really pissed about it. "He was the man our mom started seeing while you were thirteen. He got her pregnant within two months of knowing her. I could smell trouble on him from the moment she brought him home. Mom was too obsessed with the thought of being loved again to realise he only wanted sex." Jake growled.

"So he is the father of our sister?" I asked dumbly.

Jake nodded.

"Where is our sister? Did she go into foster care?" I quizzed him.

"Ariel, she had died at birth as well. She had heart problems and died at six minutes old."

A lump formed in my throat. I wanted to say something but my voice was gone. I had lost two people in one day. Maybe it was a good thing I don't remember anything. How could I live with the pain?

"Honestly," Jake interrupted my thoughts, "I hated the thought of another sibling. I had so much hate in my mind for that Steve guy that I couldn't bare the thought of his child in our home. But I remember how much you wanted a little sister. Even though you hated steve's guts, you still wanted  to dress up the baby. You kissed moms belly before bed every night.

"Wow," was all I could say.

"Oh, and the name Darla, that was the name mom had picked out for the baby. You took it on as your stage name when your career grew bigger. Mom was the one who started you with singing and you said you wanted to keep mom in mind throughout your whole career." He explained.

I thought for a moment. How did this all fit in the eight years I missed? Or can't remember I guess.

"Hun? Who are you talking to?" A drowsy woman's voice came from another room.

"We are in the living room sweety. Ariel came for a visit." Jake called back.

"WHAT!? YOU LET THAT BITCH IN OUR HOUSE!" She yelled.

"Shit," Jake said and ran to where ever the woman was.

I could hear them arguing silently for a while. I assumed they where in the room beside the one I was in so I put my ear to the wall, hoping I could hear what they were saying.

"She lost her memory. She doesn't remeber anything," Jake spoe softly.

"But she still treated you like shit and she wasn't that nice to me either. Why are you letting her in?" The woman sounded impatient.

"This might be a chance to give her a second chance! We can help her fix her mistakes! Just let her stay!"

"Fine. She can stay for a little longer. I'll go wake the kids and make breakfast," she groaned.

I sat back down and waited for my brother to come back. I didn't know people hated me this much. I must have really screwed up some how.

Before I could think about it much longer, Jake came back with two kids in his arms.

"Oh my gosh! You guys had twins!?" I grinned at the baby in blue that had the same face as the baby in pink.

"Yeah, they're only one years old." Jake smiled and put them on the couch beside me.

They cooed and cawed until the woman came in and snatched them away from me and brought them to the kitchen with her.

"Who's the hag?" I smirked.

"That's my wife. Victoria. She's not very fond of you. Apparently something happened at one of her book clubs she invited you to and she hasn't forgiven you." He laughed.

"I wish I knew what It was..." I sighed.

"Breakfast!" Victoria called and I walked to the kitchen eagerly.
