"Hello Year 11, Welcome back. I hope you had a great Christmas holiday and that you're ready to get your head back into working..." the Headteacher's speech had always bored me.
I looked at Harry who sat next to me and rolled my eyes. "I wish I was ready to work" I whispered before letting out a sigh.
I was a little upset to be back in school, after all we'd have to settle down now to get ready for our final exams.
"Luce, why are you worrying?" I don't know whether I've said this before but I love it when he calls me that. "At least you're not failing Maths, History and Physics"
My voice still quite, I offered him a little grin, "Maybe I'll have to tutor you then". When Harry took in what I had said his face became like mine. His dimples exposed for everyone to see.
"Mr Styles and friend, outside now" I jumped out of my skin as I heard the head's voice. His piercing eyes glued on us showing he was serious.
I looked at Harry in shock, I'd never been sent out of a school lesson before in all my years of school and now I was getting thrown out of assembly.
The whole year group turned their heads around in unison to look at us. Harry entwined my fingers with his before using his strength to pulled me off my seat and towards the double doors.
We'd been back in school all of an hour and now this, I felt like crying! I was such a wuss, this was going to get me into so much trouble.
Harry could tell I was worried by the wobbling of my lower lip. He flopped down on the dust old stairs and patted next to him. His sensitive yet cheeky grin was so comforting, the sight made my mouth into a slight grin. "C'mon" he muttered.
I lowered myself down next to him slipping straight under his arm. I could feel his heart beating against my face, soothing my stressed mind. His warm breath tickled the back of my neck.
"Hey, look at me" he said cupping his hand around my chin and slowly lifting up my head to look into his shiny green eyes. "What's the worst that could happen?" his tone of voice so honest and trusting.
It was a sweet thought but he needed to understand life isn't that simple. I shuffled my body away from him breaking our eye contact. Harry muscled arm flopped down next to him. "Harry, you don't get it! do you? I have a reputation to live up to. I try to be the best person I can be and getting sent out is not the best" I snapped. My words shooting like bullets straight into his head.
"Why do you care anyway?" he spat, defending himself. His arms rested on his elevated thighs.
I felt his gaze on the side of my face making my cheeks red with anger. "Because Harry, I just..." I moaned but I was interrupted by a teacher opening their classroom door. We hadn't realised how loud we'd been arguing. We'd forgotten we were in a school building because the rest of the world didn't matter at this point. This was one of our first real arguments and it hadn't even fully begun.
"If you've been sent out of assembly at least don't get yourselves into anymore trouble" the teacher snapped before slamming the door which shuck the empty corridor.
I shot Harry daggers. "You're not blaming just me for that?!" Harry scowled pulling the most unflattering facial expression.
I wanted him to be wrong so much but he was right. It wasn't just his fault, I was just really anger with him! I thought he'd understand but he didn't.
"Just stop talking, ok?!" I growled, I didn't mean to be so horrible it just came out. Like my mouth said everything my mind did. 'Think before you speak' would have really helped right now.
