"That's it?" Heather questioned, "How did Harry react?"
"Constant phone calls for the month after, 60 unread texts and until one day it all just stopped" I told her, I tucked my hair behind my ear.
"Wow, that's a sad end to a lovely story Lucy" she sighed placing her pen down on the small table in front of her, "thanks for sharing it with NewNews Magazine".
"No problem, it's my pleasure" I said as I pushed for a smile.
"Well if we need more information we'll be in contact in the next few weeks" she said standing up to shake my hand, "If not, expect your story in our summer addition".
I rose from my seat and wrapped my jacket around my shoulders, "That quick?".
"You bet'cha" she said closing her note pad, "Wait in here while I go get your money". She turned and exited through a door at the back of the room. I let out a long sigh that I'd been holding in throughout the whole interview. Telling someone our story always brought back feelings that I'd tried for so long to lose. He was a total different person now, as was I. We were not those kids who would write each other secret love notes and hid them around the school disco. I was 18 now, preparing myself for university in a couple of months and worrying about Harry was no longer on my mind.
"Here it is, all £250" Heather beamed as she re-entered the room with a freshly stuck envelope. I took it from her hand and thanked her.
"No, thank you for your time Lucy! Have a nice day" she smiled as she ushered me out of the door and into the very serious new office once again.
I'd only taken a few steps down the road when I passed a small coffee shop and noticed a very familiar face. A girl with medium length blonde hair and freckly cheeks. She was sat close to the window on her own with a small cup of tea and two untouched biscuit fingers on a little plate on the table in front of her. I couldn't believe my luck as I entered through the glass doors and made my way to where she sat.
"Kelly, how lovely to see you" I smiled taking my bag from my shoulder.
"Oh..er hey" she whispered, lifting the the cup to her mouth quickly and looking out at the busy street.
"Fancy bumping into you after all this time. Hey, d'you mind if I join you?" I grinned placing my heavy handbag down on the chair facing her.
"Actually I was just leaving" she said rising from her chair and pulling on her coat. She took her final sip of tea and made her way out of the building.
"Oh right, see you around" I shouted after her.
"Yeah, right, sure, whatever" she squeaked as she hurried away.
How strange, I thought to myself. What had I done to upset her so much?! Anyway I had new friends now that didn't run away from me.
I continued my walk home down my local high-street passing many of my favourite shops and places to go. First was my hairdressers, a building with an old fashioned exterior but very modern interior, a big black sign with the words 'curly's cuts' in white written on it hung from rusty chains. Next came a clothing boutique where I'd recently got a job, hanging up clothes and working behind the till. Finally I passed the electrical store, televisions flashed away in the window as I pasted by. I only stopped once something on the last tv had caught my attention. The music channel was on in order to fill the shop with happy and exciting music but a banner was spread across the bottom of screen that read 'BREAKING NEWS - TEEN HEARTTHROB HARRY STYLES HOOKS UP WITH AMERICAN ACTRESS LAYLOR TWIST?' If that confuses you let me catch you up...
- After me and Harry finished all contact was lost between us so I only know what I read and saw on tv. The boys which were now referred to as 'One Direction' came third on X Factor that autumn and were signed by Mr Simon Cowell to his record label. It's been a year since I last spoke to Harry however with the release of their debut hit single 'What Makes You Beautiful' he no longer had a reason to worry about me as a shower of teenage girls all over world began to show a keen interest.
The boys I spent my teenage years with were superstars and the interview this morning wasn't about mine and Harry's relationship but just to dig some dirt into my Ex's past. I am no-one and he is someone.-
I should of guessed at the first opportunity he would get back in contact with Laylor, who had recently broke Hollywood with debut movie 'Starlight'. Releasing a heavy sigh I pulled my bag up on my shoulder and carried on walking home.
A few weeks past, I checked the post every day for my article, I know selling a story is pretty low but by telling everyone about that night in the park I could finally get that monster caught if people like the police picked up on it. This morning in particular I had a feeling, I knew it was today. I was woken by the sound of my postman forcing a large package through the letterbox. I threw myself from my bed grabbing my dressing-gown and pulling it around me. Slap, the parcel hit the floor as I reached the top of the stairs. I scampered down the stairs and held the latest copy of NewNews magazine. I ripped off the plastic covering and sat on the bottom stair. I opened the first page and hovered my fingers over the contents list. I stopped when I read the words 'Perfect boyfriend? Page 10', a photo of Harry smartly dress on a red-carpet next to it. The pages flickered till I found the right one. A double page spread with photos of Harry and ones I had given in of us both. An 'urgh' left my mouth as I read the title 'Harry's first love'.
I continued to read,
"You may think Harry Styles, from boy-band One Direction, would be the perfect boyfriend but it seems you'd be mistaken after we interviewed his Ex-girlfriend, Lucy. She and Harry attended Red Bridge School for many years before hooking up in their final year. Lucy begins, "as soon as Harry started at my school he instantly caught my eye"...Ew, did I really say that?"
I continued reading again...
