"What homework are we cursed with tonight?" I sighed, pulling my backpack up on my aching shoulders.
"Biology, Maths, Art, plus we have to revise for that French exam in a few days." Kelly groaned his face fell to a frown.
"Great, best news I've heard all day." I whined pushing open one of the double doors leading out of the school building.
I looked as Kelly's facial expressions took a dramatic change.
I followed the direction of her stare to soon find the source of her mood change. Stood just to the left of us was a tallish boy with a similar build to Harry however his hair was fairer and a lot shorter. His hands in his pockets he moved a few paces closer to us.
"Hi Liam" we said, Kelly's voice a little cheerier than mine.
"May I steal her away from you?" Liam asked me however he had firm eye contact with my friend. Liam was a very polite boy, always smartly dressed and had something nice to say.
"Yes you may" I smiled, just looking at the passion they shared in their eyes made me feel happier.
I waved slightly as Kelly whispered a small goodbye before she was whisked away from me.
Alone now, I proceeded my walk towards the school gates as the two lovers quickly disappeared from sight.
I found my usual spot, next to a giant oak tree just outside the gates. I rested on my bulging backpack which rested against the wall.
I didn't murmur as Harry was a few minutes late, he probably got a last minute detention. I watched as few younger year stragglers left school skipping almost, laughing, their heavy bags bounced on their shoulders and back as they walked. A silent giggle escaped my lips, they were so cute. Something told me they didn't appreciate my gesture when they stared at me, giving my evil looks.
"What?" I said my voice slightly raised, using my authority to my advantage. Their faces fell to worry as they noticed the sparkling colours of my year 11 tie and with that they all scattered off.
Smiling at my apparent victory, I unzipped the side pocket on my bag producing my mobile phone. I was a little shocked when I had a new message.
'I can't walk home with you today, I'm sorry it's late! Oh and I have a surprise for you .xxx'
Harry. I was quite excited about his message even though it involved me walking home alone. I reopened my zip pocket pulling my ear phones from it. I slipped one of them into my ear as I scanned for a catchy song.
I pulled my tired body along as I traced mine and Harry's usual root to and home from school. A strange feeling grew upon me, the feeling of someone hot on my heels.
The person was tracing my steps close behind me. I felt their breath lacing my neck, making my skin crawl.
"What do you want Hayden?" I spun around suddenly to see him standing behind me. His blonde hair flickering slightly in the breeze. His blue eyes piercing, fighting for eye contact.
"Oh nothing" he said guiltily strolling in front of me blocking my path.
"I was just wondering why you aren't walking with your 'boy friend'?" he said sliding his hands into his blazer pockets.
"That's non of your business" I spat before pushing him out of the way to continue my journey.
Hayden was a player. He'd been with every 'popular' girl in my year. He was attracted to girls who were off limits, he thrived off broken hearts.
I felt his hands clasp my wrist. "Has that ever stopped me before?"
I pulled my arm away from his grip and turned my back to him.
