Our Always: Harry and Hermione

Chapter 12:First Words Last Goodbye's

   Silence followed my question. Harry and Ron both gave me a hug for a long time. We just reunited as a trio and now two are off to stop a deatheater. All I ever wanted was for the three of us to go a year without something majorly bad happening. I hug them closer to me. Both have their own scent that I can make out so easily. Harry had the smell of lilies and ashes. Ron had the smell of cinnamon and burnt bread. When we separate I go over to Lavender. I see in her eyes that she is trying to hold back her tears. I give her a hug and soon enough the boys join us. As a back away I wipe away the tears that were about spill out of my eyes. Ron pulls me aside to the nursery so we could talk.

     "Hermione can you do me the biggest favor while I'm away?" He asks.

     "Of coarse Ron what do you need?" I say.

     "Can you watch over Lavender? Can she stay up in the tower with you and Teddy?"

     "Yes. But you have to promise me something."

     "What would that be?"

     "That you and Harry come back alive. And that you write to me if it comes to a month and you two are not back yet."

     "Of coarse."

     "Thank you. I'll be downstairs."

I picked up a sleeping Teddy and walked down stairs to wait for the boys. Once I reached the top of the staircase Teddy was awake. I looked at the living room and then walked down the hallway to the front door. With Teddy on my right hip, I admire my engagement ring. Teddy reaches over so I just bring my hand closer to him. He wrapped his small hand around my finger and I smiled. I squwated down and placed Teddy on his feet and made him take a few steps before I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. I looked up and saw Ron and Lavender coming towards the door. I picked up Teddy and stood up. Ron took him and I went over to Lavender. The tears forming in her eyes I knew all too well. Growing up with these two boys has given me the best and worst moments. Most of these times I had to deal with it by myself. Now Lavender and I can help each other get through it.

     "It will be alright. We have each other now and always will," I say to her. She nods and gives me a hug. At first this is a surprise but then I hug back. I hear more footsteps coming down the stairs so I let go and turn around. Immediately his hands are wrapped around my waist and his lips are on mine. I cup his have with my hands and wish he wasn't leaving. When we part, I take hold of his hand and walk over to Ron. He gives Teddy to Harry and I give him a hug. I turn around to take Teddy from Harry when he starts to say something. I lean in closer to hear him better

       "D-da da," he says looking at Harry.

      "He's starting to talk. He thinks I'm his father," Harry said with tears forming in his eyes. He gives Teddy a kiss on the forehead before giving him to me. Ron was saying good bye to Lavender while Harry and I watched as Teddy repeated his first word. Before he left Harry bent down and gave Teddy one last kiss before he left. I smashed mine into his and he deepened the kiss.

    "Alright the sooner we leave the sooner we can get back, you love birds," Ron said. He dragged Harry from the bag. Before the door closed Harry's lips formed the words: I love you both.
