Chapter 30: Changes

I start running to the Hospital Wing as soon as I'm down the first flight of steps I apareate to the Hospital Wing. I open the doors and I see a bed with fabric walls around it. As soon as I get to the bed I see my little Teddy there sleeping. Madam Pomfrey comes to me as she stretches her arm two stroke his head.
     "He's not like his father, he's like his mother. It just so happened that his first transformation was in the same form as his father's changing. He is a Metamorphmagus. As he gets older and sees more animals, he'll be able to transform into the different creatures before now I guess he went with a werewolf because it is however in his blood,"she said to me.
     I sat down in the chair next to the bed and held his hand while he slept a few minutes later Harry came in. He stood behind me and gave me a quick kiss on the neck and then started massaging my shoulders.
     "What happened? Is he going to be alright?" Harry asked. I tilt my head to look up him and mouth yes. He starts to lean down and I use my free hand to pull him closer. As soon as our lips touch, i can feel the passion, kindness, pain, and sorrow that both of us have held back for a while. When we part he stared me in the eyes.
     "You should go to the tower, I'll stay here with him tonight. You need the rest, after everything that has happened within the last 24 hours. Go, he'll be fine,"he whispers to me. I stand from the chair and he sits down. I give Teddy a kiss on the forehead and he fusses a bit but doesn't stir, then I turn to Harry and give him another kiss before heading off to bed.
     I decide to head to the Gryffindor Tower to let everyone know that Teddy is fine. As soon as the Fat Lady opens the porthole,  I step in and see that the only ones left in the common room are Ginny, Lavender, Ron, Draco and Dean. They all stand up when they are me and I hold my hand up before they could say anything.
     "Teddy is fine, he was just changing. His Metamorphmagus powers are kicking in and because Remus was a were-wolf, it just so happened to be his first. Even though it is in his blood, he is not one," I say to them. A visible sign of relief washed over them. Dean, Draco, and Ginny said their goodnights then went to their dormitories, while Ron, Lavender, and I went to our tower.
     When we got there, I said my goodnights and headed into my room. I went ahead and took a shower and put on Harry's quidditch shirt with a pair of shorts and got under the covers. I fell asleep soon, but not for long.
      I woke up later feeling a bit weird because I'm not used to sleeping by myself. I picked up my watch off of the nightstand and looked at the time. It was one in the morning which means I only got 3 hours of sleep. And for half of that time I had been tossing and turning. I decided to get up out of bed grab a blanket pick up Harry's map and invisibility cloak and head down to the hospital wing.
    As I open the large door, I can see Harry sleeping in the chair with his head on the bed. I close the door quietly and start to get closer to the bed. When I get close I see that Harry is awake and just looking at Teddy.
     "What's wrong love, couldn't sleep?"he says which takes me by surprise. I take off the cloak and stare at him.
    "How did you know it was me?" I ask. I went and sat in his lap and he kissed my temple. I look at my sleeping child and how peaceful he looked, with him being new to the world, not knowing the dangers that Harry and I have been through. I put my head in the crook of Harry's neck and think about my future, our future, his future.
     "Because there is only one person in this castle that has access to an invisibility cloak and a secret map of the school, that is not me, and it's you. I don't have to be the brightest wizard in my class to figure that out. But why did you come all the way down here? You were in a nice big comfy bed in our tower. What's wrong?" he asked me again. I first blushed at the thought of him being the brightest wizard and then I got to thinking about his question.
     "I felt that lately we haven't been together as much as we should be and to bring Teddy in this. I don't know, Harry. It just hasn't felt right. Maybe after we graduate and Ron and Lavender's wedding, we should go on a vacation. Just three of us and we could have fun and just get away from all this."
     "I like the idea, but where would we go. And what do you mean get away from all this? Our friends, your family, London? What?"
     "I mean yes, but Harry we were both so new to this world only 8 years ago. We had the slightest clue the magic existed. We lived like muggles. Don't you ever wonder what it would be like to forget magic for a while? To be without constant danger at our backs? I know that this means alot to you, so we can discuss in more in depth later on I..."
     "Lets do it. I say it's brilliant that way we can both relax and not worry about anything. I agree, both of us were raised without magic and so we need to get back to our roots. Besides we can see what's new since we joined the wizarding world. I mean we are here most of the year and only go back during summer."
     "Thank you. I love you so much."
     "And I love you, Hermione. I can't wait to call you my wife."
     "And you my husband."
