Violet sits across from me at the lunch table, while CJ takes place next to me.

"I read on Twitter that someone broke into the Fro-yo Place last night." Violet says, sipping from her juice box.

"Two people." I blurt.

CJ glances up at me. "Where did you hear that?"

"Around." I shrug, quickly saving myself.

Violet just shakes her head. "It's insane, isn't. I mean we go there almost every day."

"You know, I heard that the guys who broke in left a note and some money." I arrogantly inform them. A group of underclassmen stop at out table to listen in.

My two friends look at me with wide eyes. "What else did you hear?" CJ asks anxiously.

I can't help but smile. "That when the cop found the two, they made a run for it." Their ignorance has a way of making me feel almost above it all.

"Wow!" Violet squeals. "That's the kind of thing you only hear about in the movies, right?"

"And that's not even the end of it. I heard that they also regularly break into Easton Manor houses." I know I should shut up, but there's a kind of high that comes along with having someone hanging onto your every word.

I like that people are finally interested in me. I'm not just the mayor's daughter, some facless title. I'm this new exciting person with depth and meaning.

"Jesus, Wyn, how do you know all of this?" CJ asks, surprise is clearly written in her features.

"Yeah, Wynnie, how do you know all of this?" Jace appears out of no where. "With all of this information, you'd think that you committed the crime."

I glance back at the table. "I'll catch up with you guys later?"

CJ reluctantly shrugs while Violet just looks down at her phone. The group of younger students walk away.

Jace grips my wrist and pulls me out of the cafeteria.

"What are you doing?." He demands. We stopped next to a vending machine, which I choose to lean on.

"Telling them bedtime stories." I respond sarcastically.

"I get that you're just learning how to spread your little delinquent wings and fly, but you can't go off talking about it like that-"

"I thought you weren't a delinquent?" I smile tauntingly.

Jace sighs, running his hands through his hair, something I've noticed he does quite a lot. Not that I am complaining.

"Just relax with the campfire stories." Jace kisses my forehead.

I take a step back. I have to. "Jace." I warn him softly.

He leans in so close, like he always seems to do. "Obligations." He whispers.

Just then Keegan turns the corner, frowning. "Wynter?"

I step away from Jace. "Hey Keegan." I greet him awkwardly. "You know Jace-"

"Yeah," Keegan glares at Jace. "In fact, I distinctly remember telling you to stay away from him."

"Why exactly should she stop hanging around me?" Jace asks calmly, yet so coldly.

"So you guys are hanging out now." Keegan laughs bitterly.

"Yeah." Jace nods cockily. "Last night even-"

"Jace." I hiss, slapping his stomach with the back of my hand.
