"What about Jonas from third period?" Violet Wilde flicks her beach blonde hair over her shoulder.
"I mean, he's got this weird thing going on with his hair, but other than that I'd say a solid eight." Cassandra Jones purses her lips.
CJ, Cassandra, adverts her hazel eyes in my direction. "What about you, Wynter? What would you rate him?"
"Keep in mind his fantastic butt!" Violet adds with wide dark blue eyes.
"I have a boyfriend." I mutter, mindlessly ripping up a candy pink napkin.
"Right answer!" CJ smirks. She has a light dusting of freckles over her nose that makes her appear a lot younger than she actually is.
"But if you didn't-" Violet scoops a spoon of chocolate fro-yo into her mouth.
"Violet!" CJ snaps.
"Sorry." Violet mumbles.
"I'm sick of this." I sigh, pushing my bowl away.
Violet frowns. "Sick of what? Your fro-yo?"
"You can't keep getting strawberry swirl, of course you'll get sick," CJ jabs her tiny plastic spoon into her frozen vanilla yogurt.
"I don't mean the yogurt. I mean how...redundant my life is. I'm going through the motions, but nothing's authentic. I'm a hamster, trapped on an ever spinning wheel, but what am I running after?" I ask Violet and CJ, well aware that they don't have the answer.
No one does. We are, and always will be, just a bunch of ignorant hamsters.
"Wynter, are you alright?" CJ's voice is slow and steady, as if she fears I might randomly freak out.
I just stare blankly at her. She doesn't get it. Why am I the only one who has recognized that we aren't doing anything with our life!
"Yeah, I'm fantastic." I respond sarcastically.
My two best friends are quiet for a bit longer, examining me for any physical abnormalities.
"C'mon, class is about to start." Violet announces after a bit.
We get into CJ's two door Jeep wrangler. When she bought it from some Canadian guy it didn't have any doors, which is what drew CJ to it in the first place but her die-hard safety freak parents insisted she install new doors. At least until her 18th birthday.
After my fro-yo outburst we're all a bit quiet. The drive is subbed with Do I Wanna Know, by Arctic Monkeys. The restaurant is only about a block or two away from the school so the unbearable drive is slightly more bearable.
Out the window I see a guy sitting on top of a black 1970's camaro ss, just looking up at the sky.
"Isn't that Jace?" Violet nods towards him.
CJ only glances out the corner of her eyes. "I think so. He does know the bell rang already, right?"
"I don't think he cares." I whisper. I end up watching him until he's no longer in sight
Violet turns around in her seat as we pull into Easton High's parking lot. "You need a serious spa day, Wynter."
I cringe. "Don't say spa day, please?"
"Girl's night out?" CJ offers up.
"Not that either, it sounds way too cliche." I unbuckle my seat belt.
"Well you need something." CJ whines.
"Yeah, I hate seeing you like this, it's depressing." Violet adds on as we walk towards a opening that leads to the courtyard.
