I don't own Trollhunters or any of Del Toro's characters (even if I'm a huge fan!)

Also more Douxie and Jess friendship because
Jess and Blue Boy will interact more in another chapter

I enter the bookshop, pushing the door closed with one hand and scratching Archie behind the ears with the other.

"Hello, Jess." My new friend waves, helping a costumer. I wave back, now browsing the books at the 'Arcane Table'. Douxie's a nerd. Though it's been established, he works in a 'magic book store'. Once he finishes up, I head over to the checkout counter.

"Hi Doux. What's up today?" I ask, petting Archie again. He purrs, I clean and replace his glasses for him. I don't know why he wears glasses, but it's cute.

"Not much, it's been a rather quiet day." He shrugs, "Then again, not many people read paper books anymore, and the Arcane Arts aren't as appreciated as they used to be."

"Still with the whole magic book store act, I see." I smirk.

"Well, all bookstores need their nice oddity. Makes the place more charming, I suppose. One of the reasons I dislike chain bookstores so much. They're all really the same. Having a Starbucks isn't really a special trait." He shrugs, "So how's it going at home?"

"You mean with the Lakes, or with the Smiths?" I laugh.

"Either." He grins, "How long are you staying in Arcadia?"

"Both are great. Jim made breakfast this morning. He makes amazing omelettes. And the rest of the weekend. I have school on Monday." I make a face, "Algebra 1 is cruel."

"I'm in college, it only gets worse." Douxie shudders.

"I'm doomed." I wince, "Math isn't my strong suit. Same with Science."

"Oh, well. If you ever need a place to work, I could always use an extra hand." My friend chuckles, "I got this shipment of mythical creature books recently, if you want to check those out."

"Huh. I might just do that." I nod, then remember another reason I dropped by, and pull out the things I found in my brother's bedroom, "I found this weird crystal in my brother's room. Since you like magicy stuff, thought you could check it out."

"I'm not into geology, but I can look." I pass him the weird orange rock, his eyes widen slightly, "You said this is in Jim's room?"

"On his bedside table." I nod, "It gives me weird vibes." (Note to self, find out if 'vibe' is still a word)

"I have no clue what it is." He mumbles, still staring at it with huge eyes.

"Oh, and there's this." I pull out the round silver clock thingy that looks expensive and I found next to the weird vibe rock.

If possible, Douxie's eyes go even wider, it looks like they're about to pop out of his head.

"My brother collects weird stuff." I shrug, "Though can't imagine where he got this."

"Right. Um, I have to go meet up with Zoe, actually! Here you go!" Douxie shoves the items into my arms, looking freaked out, "Have a nice weekend Jess! See you later!" He pushes me out the door and locks it behind him.

Douxie is weird.

Hi. Another chapter edited. I promise, I'm not discontinuing this fic. I lost my planning notebook (again), something came up recently, and I want to rewrite a few more chapters before I upload actual content again. Oh, and I read fics on Ao3, I don't have an account, and have been caught up in the ROTT fix-it rush. There's some amazing fix-it's out there. *Spoilers* Im actually hoping to switch the plot around from Jess getting those weird oracle-y dreams and instead of telling Jim, she goes to her local magic nerd friend, Douxie. *end of Spoiler*. And no, JessXDouxie isn't happening, I ship Zouxie. Earlier on in the fic I considered giving Jess a bf. And said nope, she's perfectly fine on her own.

Douxie disliking chain bookstores is not something I feel. I actually love to go and sit in a Barnes and Nobles with a Starbucks drink and a new book. He just strikes me as the kind of guy who loves family run restaurants and cozy, tiny bookstores like GDT. Jess's Algebra 1 statement is based off of my struggles. Like her, math and science aren't my strong suit.

One last thing. The orange stone is a piece of Heartstone, and the amulet is that fake version Strickler gave Jim when he switched out the amulets during Claire and Present Danger. Jim just kept it in case it'd be useful later on. Douxie doesn't know it's fake, for some reason, but it's still funny.

Have a wonderful day/night!
