I do not own Trollhunters or any of its characters, Del Toro does
Hello again. I have returned for yet another chapter. Quick note, I will not be updating over spring break, I am going to be with family. Today's song of the update is The Fear, by The Score. This song and chapter go well together. Jess's POV still, cause I don't want to handle Jim's POV yet, cause I always have a very strong urge to make a not-OC go OOC. Yeeeeaaaah, I'm working on it. Maybe I'll do one of Jess's friends for the next chapter, we haven't heard from Hannah and Sophia in a while...Cool. =)
I wandered aimlessly through Trollmarket in a daze. What had Jim been thinking? Just diving into the Darklands, with no support, no supplies except his amulet, and he didn't even have that! The annoying blue and silver contraption hadn't gone through with him, so he was completely defenseless and without any means of protection. (In this story, my nerds don't know that Gunmar's Eye unlocks the Ecplise blade or the Eclipse amulet) I went to Jim's room in Blinky's library, sitting on his cot and wiping my eyes furiously. My dumb brother, why did he do it? AARRRGGHH!!! was dead, and at this point, so he was basically. According to Blinky, the Darklands were a place of death and destruction, mercilessness, and anyone and anything he met in there, well, he'd be fighting for his life the entire time. I swallowed back a sob and went to track down Claire, Toby, and Blinky. They all needed support right now. Toby had lost his best friends (and Claire lost her boyfriend/crush, nobody knew their status), Blinky had lost his best friend and mentee (or son, Jim has the most confusing relationships out of anyone I know). I found Claire and Toby sitting next to Killahead, Claire trying to hold herself together, I could see the tears in her eyes, and Toby sobbing silently. Blinky stared numbly at the bridge, his mind racing. I sat down next to my twin's best friends, wrapping my arms around them. "H-He'll be okay, right?" Claire asked, voice trembling. "Alas, I do not know," Blinky replied, wringing all four hands at the same time, "Master Jim could already very well be deceased." "Not helping!" I hissed, then cleared my throat, "He couldn't already be dead. Know why?" They all shook their heads. "Blinky says the Amulet would call for a new Trollhunter only if Jim dies. If you have been here the whole time, and this thing hasn't even spoken or glowed, he's fine." I picked it up, tucking it into my satchel, they all brightened instantly. "You're right!" Claire exclaimed. "So, here's the plan. I'll keep watch over the amulet, text you if something changes, and Blinky will check on the bridge occasionally. If the amulet calls for someone else or the bridge does something, we let everyone know on the group chat." I ordered, "Sadly, my time in Arcadia is coming to a close, so I have to move back home soon. Claire, I have that bracelet you gave me, that will work as an emotional anchor, right?" She nodded. "Perfect. So if something changes, you come to pick me up, then we go straight for Trollmarket to figure our next move out." I smiled, satisfied. Toby then let out a massive yawn, stretching and wiping his eyes. "We, uh, better get home. Until we get a cover story, my brother is staying at Toby's house." "Okay. See you all tomorrow." Claire portaled Toby and herself home, I said bye to Blinky and walked to the surface, thinking. I pulled out the amulet, running my fingers over the Trollish runes that my brother chanted in English almost daily, my footsteps crunching from the rubble of stony bodies around me, the citizens were starting to gather their dead and clean up from the recent battle. I stumbled home, taking one of the bikes stashed in the entrance of Trollmarket, and biked home. Mom greeted me, looking around for Jim as well. "Where is your brother?" "Staying the night with Toby." "Ah. By the way, your parents called, they're picking you up noonish tomorrow." "Great." I smiled, but inwardly I didn't want to go. My brother was trapped in the place where a nightmare's nightmares come from, and I was going back to my other town to act normal while he's fighting for his life. So not crispy. (I learned the term from Claire when she told me an embarrassing story about Jim, I laughed so hard.) I fell asleep, dreaming of everything that could go wrong in my twin's reckless mission.
The next morning, at exactly noon, my other parents arrived. With my duffel bag looped over my arm, Jim's amulet in my pocket, and Claire's bracelet on my wrist, I was ready to face the next...however long this was going to last. I had gotten exactly zero sleep last night and probably looked like the undead. "Hey, Dad, hey Mom." I greeted them sleepily, blinking in the bright sunlight. "Hi, dear. Did you sleep well?" "Nightmares," I admitted. "It's okay. Let's head home." My dad ruffled my hair, smiling. "Bye, Mom. See you later." We drove home, I clutched the amulet in my pocket, feeling the silver pieces and the rough carvings. Worry hung over my head like a dark cloud. We returned home in what seemed like three minutes, I didn't like being so far away from my other family. I pulled my phone out of my pocket, the rest of the gang were trying to figure out a cover story. They had found a glamour mask and decided they were going to take turns being my twin. I winced. This was not going to go well, Toby cannot cook and Claire, while she is a great actress, calls our mom 'Mrs. Lake' or 'Dr. Lake' still, same with Toby. If anything, I should be the one pretending to be Jim, but I had to go back to my home high school or I'd have to transfer permanently to Arcadia Oaks High. (Not how the school system works, I think. I don't know, I've never gone to my brother's high school for over a month, my brother isn't in high school.) When we got home, Sophia and Hannah greeted me excitedly. I wasn't in the mood, however, and they took notice. So instead, we went to Sophia's house and watched a movie, having fun. I started to relax, once the movie was finished we turned on the Nintendo and played some video games. I beat them in the fighting games we played, but Hannah destroyed us all at the racing game we played, and Sophia beat us at puzzle games. We ate dinner at Sophia's house, then had a sleepover because it was the weekend, why not? I had a dream, which normally meant one thing: prophecy time. Sure enough, I was floating in my little void place, then relaxed and plummeted into my vision. It wasn't a normal vision, however, it was just the amulet, ticking. It started to glow, humming and throbbing. I reached out to touch it, a zap of electricity struck my fingertips. Yep, it was not planning on sharing its weird secret anytime soon. I just watched it all night, then woke up to frantic shaking and shrieking. Sophia and Hannah's frantic faces came into my sight. "Your eyes were glowing!" Hannah shrieked. "What was that?" Sophia demanded. I shifted nervously, then reached for my satchel. "Time to talk, ladies."
Cliffhanger *evil chuckle*
Anyways, yeah, this author note, no idea what to do. So, hope you have a wonderful day! Happy April's Fools!
