Chapter 5- Hecate's Wheel
Madeline's POV
Everybody gasped. I thought that my hair was glowing again or something-I was pretty mad still- but that wasn't it. They where looking ABOVE my head. I slowly turned my head up. Glowing in green above my head was a symbol.
"The wheel of Hecate" said Annabeth. "You have been claimed."
I don't remember much else about the night, I was feeling numb. After 13 years me and Carolyn would be split up. I wasn't a daughter of Athena. I was a daughter of Hecate. Somebody 9I don't know who) explained that she was the goddess of magic, and then they took me back to the cabin. I got a top bunk in the corner of my room, kind of like the bunk Carolyn had gotten. I didn't have my iPod to drown people out though which was making me pretty miserable. The Councilor for my cabin was a boy name Merlin and once or twice he tried to approach me, but whenever he got close enough I hissed at him and made my eyes turn green. Since I'd gotten there I'd been feeling more and more powerful. Nobody else seemed to be as powerful as me though, I saw people detaching other people's noses, and making things appear and disappear but nobody seemed to levitate or be able to control other things, or people.
That night as I fell asleep there was only one thought on my mind. That yet again I was different, a loner, and nobody would accept me after yesterday.

Merlin's POV
Everybody except for Madeline woke up early the next day. We weren't trying to exclude her, but nobody really wanted to be the one to wake her up, and we decided that the sooner we talk about this the better.
"OK everyone. Time to talk." I said, calling a cabin meeting. "I know that some of you aren't to excited about having her as a cabin mate, but she's a daughter of Hecate so she's staying here. Besides, I'm sure she's just panicked about her first day here, you all remember how confusing it was."
"Yah, but I didn't try to blow anyone up." Said Katie, one of my half sisters.
"Yah, well you didn't have the power to blow anyone up. She's obviously special, and it's our job to help train her for battle and teach her to control her magic.
"Fine. But I'm not going to be the one waking her up."
"I'll do it." Said a quite voice
My little sister Melissa said. ( my whole sister. Not my half sister.) She was turning six this year.
"No." I replied, but before we could stop her she climbed up the latter and poked Madeline on the leg. Madeline shot straight up into a sitting position, scaring my sister so much that she fell backwards off the ladder.
"NO!" screamed Madeline, and she thrust out her hand. Suddenly my sister stopped falling and floated towards the ground. Then she turned towards off, she looked pissed off, but her eyes weren't glowing.
"Nice you guys. Send the youngest one here to deal with the crazy new girl."
"Actually... she kinda climbed up the ladder against our will..."
"and nobody wanted to come close enough to stop her? Good. I would hope you wouldn't send her to deal with me. The poor girl looks like she's only 5."
"I'm turning six in 3 months."
"Well! You're practically a grown-up!"
My sister smiled up at her happily, and I thought maybe this girl wasn't so bad after all.
"The conch horn should be ringing any time now, we need to get ready for breakfast."
She floated out of bed and landed on the balls of her feet, then started to float out the door. Just then a conch horn was blown in the distance.
"Aren't you going to change?"
She turned around slowly
"Well, I don't exactly have any clothes besides the ones I'm wearing, and my only other possession is my iPod. All my stuff burned down with the first school I destroyed and all my clothes with the second."
We all stared at her with our mouths open.
"Why exactly did you burn down two schools?"
"One day I'll tell you guys my story, but not now. I don't trust you."
"Well... that was blunt."
"Yep, can we go to breakfast now? I'm starving."
We all started to file out and head to the dining pavilion. When we got there my sister insisted on sitting beside her, and they didn't stop whispering the entire time.
After breakfast, we had sword practice for our first activity. I decided that I would try to get Madelinei to tell us more about her past.
"I'll make you a deal. Every time I win a battle, you have to answer a question, and every time I answer a question, I have to answer a question."
She looked at me bored. "Fine, let's start."
"Don't you want me to teach you some moves first?"
"Not, particularly."
We both gots swords and started to fight, I fought my hardest but I couldn't find an opening in her defense. I looked at her strangely, "Have you used a sword before?"
She laughed. "I'm just good with sharp objects."
"Well, that's... frightening."
"yup."
Finally I hit her and my sword went right into her wrist.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" she screamed in pain. I ran forward to help her, as she clutched her wrist. To late did I realize that her wrist wasn't bleeding. She jumped up and put her sword to my throat, her wrist perfectly fine.
"How did you do that."
"Magic." She answered.
I sighed. " Show me."
She took my sword from the ground and held it. Suddenly she swung it at me, and I yelped as it went righ through me.
"I can do stuff like that, it just comes naturally. Don't try it again, it'll cut you now."
I poked it and sure enough, it was solid.
"what else can you do."
" I don't know. I'm finding more stuff everyday."
"Like what?"
That's when she turned invisible.
