CHAPTER 10
MacKenzie's POV
I liked this place already. They told me I'm a half-blood, but I already knew that, and apparently I was here to train. I'd always been good at fighting, I don't lose often, but when I do it's usually serious. That's how I lost the sight in my left eye and the hearing in my left ear. I didn't want to tell anybody just yet though...
"are you even listening to me?" asked the girl that was giving me the tour. Piper, I thought. She was on my left side so I couldn't hear her very well; I subtly moved to her other side and said "sorry, I have a bad habit of zoning out sometimes."
"I asked if you had any idea who your parent is, do you have any special powers?"
Yes "no"
"oh-well, we'll just have to wait until you get claimed." she sighed "maybe you'll get claimed at capture the flag tonight. We're having a match against the hunters tonight." I knew all about the hunters, they'd brought me here. I'd politely refused their offer to join the hunt, so they brought me here. Artemis had to hunt on her own for a few months and she was sending them here to. It's not like I'd ever love a BOY though. I hate boys... but some of the hunters where pretty hot. Yah. You read it right, I'm a lesbian, I was born this way and anybody who doesn't like it can piss off.
"Can, I go talk to Thalia?"
Piper looked surprised, "sure." I ran off to what she told me was the Artemis cabin...

Thalia's POV
Me and the hunters were settling in when there was a knock at the door.
"Come in!"
MacKenzie walked I door she looked around her eyes wide, then stared at me "can I talk to you?" maybe she was reconsidering my offer, she didn't exactly seem like the kind of girl to be all boy-crazy.
"sure."
"alone."
"Ok...?"
I followed her outside.
"re-considering me offer?"
"not really."
Just then a boy from the Aphrodite cabin whistled suggestively at her. She whipped around "Piss off!" she snapped the muttered "I hate boys"
"If you hate boys, then why don't you want to be a hunter?"
"I... I... just don't" she stuttered, "I hate boys, but I haven't given up on love."
"Huh?"
"That's not what I wanted to talk to you about..." she muttered, "I'm worried about tonight. And training, and fighting and stuff."
"what? Don't like hitting people? Maybe you're a child of Aphrodite." I joked, knowing she wasn't, if she hated boys.
She just snorted "hitting people isn't a problem."
"what? Worried about getting hurt?"
"sort of..."
"Don't worry, I've seen you fight, you're amazing."
We'd found her fighting off three hydras with two dead ones at her feet. She had nothing to worry about.
"monsters are easy to fight, they don't pick up on peoples weaknesses"
"what?!"
"I'll tell you what I mean, but you have to swear you won't tell anybody."
"I swear upon the river Styx."
