第11章 Chapter 11 : CONFUSIONS

PRESENT TIME

Semi's POV

I admit, I was kind of surprised seeing Y/N talking to H/N. I mean, I know they talk with each other but mainly about club activities and just about the team, but seeing them right now, it's like they're talking as friends.

Well, it's not that it isn't a good thing, but I must say, somehow it makes me feel uneasy. What is this that I'm feeling? Could it be?...

Then Y/N started laughing. It's been so long since I last saw her like that. I was really getting curious, that I wanted to ask what they're talking about.

I was about to approach them, but then Coach Saitou blew his whistle as we were to start our practice.

Practice ended 30 minutes after 7 in the evening. Then Y/N approached me and handed a bottled water.

"Otsukare. You're sweating too much than before, Eita." I was stunned hearing her call me in my first name. It has really been a while.

"Do you have a fever Y/N?"I teased while rubbing her forehead. "What's gotten into you? Calling me in my first name? Why did you drop the honorifics this time?"

Y/N pushed my hand aside and started laughing. Again. "Don't tell me, too much water secretion?" she jokingly said. Then I laughed as well.

"Are you free after this? Let's grab dinner outside before heading to the dorm." I asked.

"If it's your treat, who am I to refuse?" she replied.

"Cool. I'll wait for you at the back gate in 15 minutes."

Y/N's POV

Semi and I decided to grab dinner after club practice. Since we were both starving, we went to get some okonomiyaki just a few blocks from the academy.

We were cooking our okonomiyaki when I realized that we were both silent since we've arrived.

"So, mind telling me why aren't you our starting setter this year?" I asked, breaking the silence.

Upon asking, the awkward atmosphere around us made it more awkward. Why did I have to throw that question anyway? How stupid of me. Baka Y/N. I thought to myself.

Semi let a deep sigh, then finally said, "Shirabu took over. It was right after you left. I know my skills, of the things that I'm capable of. But since the current team, doesn't need that kind of setter. That's why, that's how I was replaced by Shirabu."

I can feel his pain. I can feel his disappointment.

Why didn't I notice? How come I didn't know this?

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked.

"Before you left, I've already had the feeling. But since Shirabu wasn't a regular in his first year, I really didn't pay attention. Then my fear, came true."

"You were so excited when you arrived abroad. I didn't want to spoil the fun and excitement you were feeling. I didn't want to be a burden for you as well." Semi continued.
