Nobody's POV
"Adrien is finally home, but we can't get close to him when he's spending the whole night with Marinette as Chat Blanc."
"The police?" Nathalie suggested.
"No, we can't; it would bring a bad name to the Agreste household if we arrested him as Adrien Agreste. We have to do it when he is in Chat Blanc. But as soon as we call the cops, Chat Blanc will run away, and we won't have any thought of where the miracle box or the earrings are." Said Gabriel.
Gabriel had searched restlessly through Adrien's room, turning it upside down when he was away in hopes of finding the miracle box, but nothing.
"We'll have to hope Marinette pulls through, and I have just the plan. Does she still not have any access to electronics other than a TV and a digital sewing machine?"
Nathalie gave a nod.
"Perfect."
——————————————
Marinette sighed, scrolling through the channels. Mr. Agreste was very elaborate because the TV didn't have the news or anything on current events. The chances of any memories returning to her that night were slim.
The rain splattered against the windows as the sunset soon turned to night.
She was stopped when she heard a knock on her door. Her face brightened when she saw Chat Blanc enter her room.
He gritted his teeth together from the cold. She nodded and wrapped him in a towel. The boy smiled and pulled her next to him.
"So..."
"What are we watching?" He winked.
Marinette sighed before turning off her TV and walking close to the windows.
She watched the raindrops fall and slowly connect with each other as they dropped down the pane. Chat joined her and was mesmerized by the same thing.
It was quiet between the two of them. Marinette didn't know what to say she was lost in thought.
Finally, Chat spoke up, "You know... my mother- well whenever I'm in the rain, I would think of her..."
Marinette paused. He had never talked about his parents before.
"She would've loved you."
Marinette freezes at the word. Would've? And then it hit her.
"Oh.. Chat... I'm so-so sorry." He nodded sadly.
"Something she would say to me, though... I just can't get it out of my head. When I was little and afraid of the thunder, she and I would walk through the streets of Paris in the rain all the time. She wanted me to be fearless, and that's what I had become."
Marinette looked at Chat smiling at the thought of a little boy resembling Chat, hugging into someone's legs EVERYTIME a thunderbolt struck.
Chat smiled and gestured to the window. She gave a slight giggle before rushing to her closet and pulling on a pink raincoat.
Holding a black umbrella Chat, carried her to the black of the house, the courtyard to be precise. As he put her down he continued to talk about his mother.
"She used to have a phrase," he paused trying to savour word for word, "See I knew you could do it! You just have to- One day you will do great things... One day you will be the aire to a whole company... One day you will love someone enough to dance with them in the rain. I just hope that in the end no matter what, you'll say the most important things even though their the hardest to say... AND that you will always do the right thing for the purpose of doing the right thing. With happiness in your heart, and love as your guide."
(A/N: Reoccurring quote in this book if you remember. All these quotes, they will most likely come up later in the story😏)
"That's beautiful." Marinette remarked. He nodded.
"And one part of what she said, these days... I just can't get out of my head."
Marinette tilted her head. They were dangerously close since they huddled, trying not to get caught in the downpour. Chat was still grasping into the umbrella handle with his white claws.
"Which-which part." Marinette shivered.
"The feeling that one day I would love someone so much to dance in the rain with them."
Marinette blushed at his words and looked up to see him staring intently into her eyes.
"Should we dance then?" She giggled giving him a fake curtesy. Even though it was raining the blush on the two kids' cheeks was something the rain couldn't wash away if it tried.
Adrien dropped the umbrella on the bench of the courtyard and gently grabbed her hands. Marinette gasped as they started to move. Chat realized she was about to slip so he slowed down a little bit by tightening his grip on her tiny frame.
His hand moved to the small of her back as it arched from the touch. Her hands made their way to his neck as they danced through the sound of the rain splattering around them.
They giggled as they felt the rain hit the tops of their heads.
"You know, we should probably get you inside if you don't want to catch a cold." Chat looked at her concerned as she gave a tiny sneeze.
"Not a chance." She replied, grabbing his hand and spinning herself.
He laughed and joined her. Everything felt so right in the moment.
The rain kept going down harder and harder. Soon, Marinette and Chat found themselves soaking wet and stopped to go inside and dry themselves off.
Marinette through a towel at Chat and snorted when he sneezed.
They sat down on her bed drying off and telling stories.
They got back to the topic of her memories, of course Chat Blanc knew she had gotten some back but he pretended he was surprised for her sake. He always thought she looked so cute when she was proud of herself.
They had begun to talk about other memories.
"What did you promise me, Chat?"
"Erm- well before you lost your memories, I promised you two things." He said it shyly. How did they get on the topic of Marinette and his last relationship before her memories faded?
"One, to be with you always and forever. Two, to... to-give you 996 roses and a dandelion..."
Marinette looked at him a second before looking down again.
"What?" Chat questioned. The look she gave him didn't go unnoticed.
"I-I just thought that you w-were in love with your partner... Ladybug..?"
"WHAT!"
"Sorry! Just by the way you talk about her or the way you smile when you think of her I just thought-" Marinette quickly tried to justify.
Chat looked at her very seriously, with an emotion she couldn't make out.
How was he supposed to tell her? Should he tell her she was Ladybug? To spark more memories?
"Marinette, here's the thing you were Lady-"
"I'M SORRY!"
Chat looked at her, bewildered by her interruption. Her hands were buried deep into her face as a scarlet blush coated her cheeks.
"Princess?"
"I mean I like you a lot but... I think I have feelings for someone else... do you know Adrien Agreste?"
