It felt like she was sobbing forever when she heard soft footsteps coming towards her. Marinette felt her breath hitch. Her heart swelled. She felt her sobs soften, immediately as she heard his voice.
"Princess?"
Chat's POV
I saw her enter the party. God was she gorgeous. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. Everything about her was just so- miraculous.
I smiled, and thought about her and what we would do if we were boyfriend and girlfriend. I knew it was close behind considering all we've been through together. But... Not yet... For now though, I was lost in my fantasies. Dinner dates, movies, snuggles, and kisses everyday after school when I would visit her. We already did do most of those things but when your boyfriend and girlfriend it's different... You aren't in the unknown anymore. You feel connected-
My thoughts and fantasies stopped as I heard the next song play. Woah. How long was I daydreaming for... I smiled at the stringed melody. I wanted to go in there so badly, surprise her, ask her to dance, but... then Hawkmoth would know. He would know that I loved her and she would become a target. So... for now I watched her look at the couples dancing... alone from the sidelines. The sight broke my heart, but not as much as what happened next...
I lost sight of Marinette who had obviously moved away from my line of sight... but then I heard, something along the lines of, "DUPAIN-CHENG WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING RUINING MY PARTY!"
Oh no. I looked frantically but I couldn't find Marinette anywhere, in the ballroom. The sun had set and brought out a beautiful twilight to light up the sky. A crescent moon hung behind thousands of puncturing stars in the sky. Where was she?
While the guests were making a commotion I slipped inside and started looking for her. My first place was the bathrooms. Marinette, or nobody for that matter was there. Probably for the best. I wouldn't want a headline the next day that said: "CHAT NOIR IS A PERVERT! FOUND SNOOPING IN THE GIRL'S BATHROOM AT THE BOURGEOIS HOTEL."
No. That wouldn't look good at all. His ears twitched as he heard the sound of a doer slamming above. The stairwell... the roof. MARINETTE.
I hopped on the roof to find a small shaking girl in the cold on the roof. The wind was howling and shaking. And there she was. Back against the wall. Tears and sobs escaping her lips.
"Princess?"
Nobody's POV
Tikki was about to stick her head out when she heard a familiar voice. Adrien. She silently thanked Plagg for managing to get Adrien out of the house. Tikki couldn't do much in these situations other than try and calm Marinette down so she wouldn't get akumitized.
But... she knew... Adrien could do so much more.
Marinette looked up. Her cheeks dry with tears. She sniffled. Trying to hold in a big sob. There he was. It's true that she wanted to see Chat but she didn't want him to see her like this. She probably looked pathetic.
"Princess?" He questioned again.
All she could do was manage a whimper before Chat dropped to his knees and was at her side, right up against the wall with her. Relief filled her as she fell back into his arms. Sniffling still. Marinette couldn't let the burn in the back of her throat hold on any longer. She let out a small quiet sob as Chat rubbed her back and kissed her hair.
