The locks on the bag clicked as Yates closed his final suitcase. He snarled and mumbled harsh words under his breath thinking about how the commander favored you more as his trainee than him. It ate away at him, like a crow constantly picking at its food.
How could the commander choose you over him?
It was damn near impossible to wrap his head around it.
Nothing left to do other than making sure the commander doesn't get pissed again.
Like he needed that again.
His room sat empty from the floor to the walls being forced to pack up and leave by the order of the commander himself. Nothing but the floating dust particles reflecting the sunlight that shined through the window was left in the chilled dorm. Yates was told he'd have until twelve hundred to get his things out of the building and it didn't exactly help feeling Reyes's pissed attitude haunt his every action.
'By that time I should see everything out of that dorm, am I made clear?'
Yates forced down his emotions wanting to purge out of his mouth and replied with a formal,-'Yes sir' instead.
His face was stern and strong but underneath, he was swallowing his unchecked ego.
Glancing down at his free hand, he watched the time tick away on his watch.
Eleven fifty.
'Dammit'
The thought of what happened boiled the blood in his veins gripping the suitcase handle with subtle frustration in one hand while standing idle for a moment, soaking in the scene until it left a rancid taste in his mouth.
Quickly snatching another suitcase from the floor in the other hand with a harsh grunt and a cluttered mind, he stormed out of the room taking a quick and uneasy march towards the end of the hall where a facilitated bus had held all of his belongings. Angrily paced through the empty corridors, all of the students were in their respective classes leaving Yates to hear the sounds of his own footsteps bouncing off the walls. He stared ahead feeling agitated underneath his facade, passing by the commander leaning up against a wall with crossed arms in an intersecting hallway. A stern glare held the young soldiers attention out of his peripherals, making his nerves shake.
A look like that would get underneath anyones skin.
Faintly looking unapologetically happy that Yates was walking out the back door, he stood with his successor behind him who was patiently waiting for his orders.
Watching him walk by, you could see the fumes wafting out from the top of his head.
Wasn't easy being kicked out with the one you despised with every fiber of your being looking at you walk out with your tail between your legs.
Even worse when it looked like you and the commander were practically on the same page.
It's like you both were ment for each other.
"You head to the training room, I'll be over there in a second."
"Yes Sir."
Yates let out a mental 'tch' at the sound of you two mentioning your plans next to him. You both had acted as if he wasn't even in the hallway.
Forget about pushing his buttons, it smashed them.
It felt like he was about to lose his damn mind, eying you turn to train one-on-one with the commander of all people.
Deep mental breaths.
In and out.
'Calm down, No need to worry about him, o-o-or them kissing each others asses anymore. I just need to get home and relax.' By the time he had reached the end of the hall he had cleared his head from the constant pounding that this facility had so happily graced him with, he didn't need any more bullshit to get on his last ner-
"Yates."
The soldier responded to Gabriels coo as he turned around
to find Gabriel wearing an uncomplimentary scowl across his face.Yates's eyes flashed with shock, witnessing something that he never would expect looking at Reyes.
Gabriel's middle finger stood as straight as an arrow before he and his goodbye "salute" dissapeared behind the corner.
If telling Yates to pack it up and leave pissed him off before, Gabriel flipping the bird definitely sent him overboard now.
