"I'll be fine Gabe, I promise!" You ushered at a low tone in the hallway. Looking at Gabriels eyes of stern worry and pain quickly turning to anger and frustration. Ever since you had told him that you would be going on the mission with them, he's been dreading it at the back of his mind. This had to be one of the most complex missions and she just had to throw you into the mix.
"It's not that easy just sending you out there all of a sudden, you're not ready!" Reyes scowled in annoyance, his face the description of aggravation, dreading every thought about you in the heat of combat.
"Weren't you the one wanting me to push myself? Isn't that what this whole facility is about!?- I can do this!" You rebuttled feeling a little shaken by his grimmaced yet caring face. You kept watching in hopes he would start to recooperate on his semi-heinous words.
Reyes's breathing seemed almost sporadic due to bubbling angst. He starred down at you wanting to believe you, lips starting to subtley pout under his mustache and his eyebrows lower in apprehension. The thought of you already out on the battlefield was already a nightmarish hell he wasn't expecting, let alone have it be something he ever really thought of. He wanted to make you as tough as you could be but, he never would've expected to have this relationship be as deep as it was. He can't lose you,-
He couldn't afford to lose someone like you. You were too precious and important to him.
"Gabe you know you can't stop this. I'm assuming if Gabrielle assigned me here, than this is where I have to be. Besides, isn't this what you wanted?" You coo'd more softly yet, loud enough for him to hear trying to burst the bubble of doubt surrounding his poor mind. He hated this feeling, he wanted no part of it. If there was going to be any danger, he would want you somewhere locked up safe as he'd take care of it. Funny how things change, huh? He wanted you so strong and to bring out the potential in you but, now that he had fallen head first into a love he wasn't expecting to happen, he just wanted to keep you safe.
Letting out a meaningfull and resentfull sigh, he closed his eyes and excepted what was happening. "-I just wasn't expecting it too happen so soon, alright?" His face turned another direction gently to avoid eye contact, feeling his face flush red. His deep and sorrow filled voice only drew you closer to his person wanting to comfort and hold him close. Might as well do it while no one was watching, right? Chuckling a bit, your arms raised themselves up over his shoulders and wrapped behind his neck. He knew he was gonna get a little bit more emotional inside. Trying to hide it, he clenched his eyes shut again trying to not seem so vulnerable when he felt your arms caress his skin.
"Look atcha', wanting to bring out the fighter in me and now wanting to keep me safe as if I was that fragile boy I used to be.-" Silence bestowed the conversation as you kept your smile on him. Your gentle and soothing voice made his eyes fixate on you for your guidance and help.
"Gabe I know that you don't want to let what happened before happen now but, you gotta let it go. You'll be with me through it all anyways, everything will work out fine,- you'll see."
That felt like a damn pin to a balloon for Gabriel, a burst of realization that even though he didn't want to hear it, he needed to hear it. His eyes twitched from left to right still locked in your stare trying to soak in the important lesson. Begging for some sort of hope and mercy in your eyes to let him down gently with the hurtfull truth. Strained in time for a moment, he finally felt the urge to move in closer, sliding his arms around your torso and moving his left hand to your shoulder blades and his right on the lower part of your back, embracing everything about you that he could. Your scent made him spiral quietly into even deeper, more anxious thoughts. You knew he was struggling with the thought of you possibly getting hurt but, you knew he was a strong enough man to jump the hurtles that came his way. He knew how to get back on his feet and you were the helping hand. In a reassuring gesture, the bottle was no longer his crutch feeling a soft pair of bushy lips push your hair into the side of your head with a soft peck.
