"Wait what's even your name?" I ask as I take a bite of the pizza we ordered.

"Matt. You?"

"Lexie."

"What is the goal of these crazy people. Don't they know that we come back if they shoot us."

"I don't think they know how to kill us."

"How do they know where we are?"

He shrugs. "Have you ever seen one come out of a body? They look like a phantom reaper, they probably have some magical thing going on."

"Wait. Come out?"

"Yeah. They are like shadows or something. They like posses people or something"

I scoff. "Shadows, possessing people, and magical things?"

He nods.

"You're very good at clarifying things." I tell him, my voice filled with sarcasm.

"Thanks." He laughs.

"You know, if I didn't just live the same day 6 times, I would say you're crazy."

Eventually he leaves. Around a week and a half has passed. I haven't left the house yet. Laurey brought me food once, she didn't ask about anything. We just make small talk.

One night as I'm sitting in bed, reading, I hear something fall in the bathroom. Out of paranoia I immediately think that it's one of the 'shadows' as Matt calls them. I slowly get out from under the blankets on my bed. I creep to the bathroom, cracking the door open only enough to see what's inside. I sigh.

"How did you get in here."

"Through the window." Matt replies, placing a cloth over a spot on his arm that looks cut.

"Yo- you broke in?" I groan. "Through the window?"

"Yep."

"Matt, I'm on the FIFTH FLOOR!"

"I didn't have another place to go."

"You could have knocked."

"A random person who doesn't live here walking through the halls with a bloody arm does not blend in, Lexie." He tells me.

"Th- yeah ok." I admit. "What happened."

"Oh you know, possessed people started using knives."

"Knives? Really?" I lean on the frame of the doorway as he wraps his arm in a bandage.

"Yeah." He nods.

We sit in silence for a few minutes.

"We can just leave." I look up at him. "Try to find somewhere safe. Even if that place doesn't exist. We just need to leave."

"Yeah?" He looks back at me too.

"Yeah."

So, that's exactly what we did.
