After he beat his rival, Gary Blue Oak, in the Kanto League finals a few months prior, being the only competitor to bring down one of Ash's Pokemon and defeating 3 yet still loosing, he took on the Elite Four in a historical match.

"And he has done it! Ash Ketchum made history here today ladies and gentlemen! Now the youngest trainer at the age of 11 to enter the Hall of Fame, he knocked it out of the park with this incredible victory over Lance!" The announcer roared, clearly ecstatic of the turnout to the climax of the League challenge between the Final Elite Four Lance and Challenger Ash with a 6-4 turnout. The crowd were so loud even a deaf person would be able to hear them. Many didn't think he would make it far due to only being on his journey for a year and 2 months, but were swiftly silenced when he tore through the first 3 Elite Four and shocked the world with his terrifying display of sheer power and ingenuity in his quick thinking.

He probably made a small amount of idiots, who placed insane bets on him, rich overnight seeing as betting companies gave ridiculous ratios, but oh well - lucky them I guess?
Anywho, he gracefully accepted his reward of the Title of Kanto Champion and, as you would have guessed from Ash, took off on his next journey across the other regions.
Let me give the highlights.

"Aaand another victory to Champion Ash. Once again displaying the might of Kanto's elite in this years Jhoto League!"
This probably gave Lance a heart attack, believing that he was going to lose his Johto championship title to Ash. Luckily for the grumpy Dragon Master, he didn't take it, but yet again defeated him in another successful challenge.

"Incredible! Salamance is down! The two time league winner swiftly crush's any opposition in another league, this Champion means business folks, and is rapidly piling up impressive achievements in his short career. I wonder which league is his next target!" Echoed from the Hoenn League stadium, yet another display of power from the 13 year old Champion. This time using a fresh team to wipe out the older trainers.

"Kanto has got to be proud of their Champion! Yet another league victory! Can this young man ever be stopped?!" Regardless of this he still faced difficulties with Cynthia for obvious reasons, her Garchomp still gives me Nam' flashbacks to this day. It was a close 6-5 match but was finally ended when our boy Charizard brought down Garchomp. Probably the first time the Sinnoh Champion faced defeat, but at the hands of a fellow champion.

"And yet another league falls before the aspiring Pokemon Master! The Elite Four needs to step up their game if they're going to stop the might of Kanto! Champion Iris will need to prepare for this unordinary challenger this year."
Yep, that's right, Iris. The kid 'somehow' managed to become champion of Unova. Alder must have had a stroke or something because that old bloke managed to cling onto the title for so long, only to lose to some child in a woman's body (not pregnant, duh), who somehow had an underlevelled hydreigon - very sus.

All of his leagues were fought by different teams he caught and trained along his journey across the regions but sometimes may have contained a few previous Pokemon who didn't have a chance in a league before or were brought out to test the extent of their harsh training, much to the despair of his opponents. Professor Oak still looked after Ash's Pokemon at his lab but was usually not needed as they trained themselves and Tracey existed.

During his travels he encountered the usual stuff: new Pokemon, strong trainers, gyms, evil crime syndicates and occasionally died. Because, you know, that's normal for him, but eventually he got so sick and tired of the teams that he founded the KDA - Kanto Defence Agency - for the protection of Kanto and Johto. Ash kindly asked (begged) Lance to take leadership as his G-Men were the main part of the force. To which, he gladly accepted to Ash's surprise and relief. Over the years they expanded the Agency to include branches in the other regions for their protection, and swiftly brought the decline of the teams where Ash was currently travelling - definitely not related. But it didn't help that he was an Elite member of the KDA and so had to take part in difficult missions.
This only helped boost his overall popularity in the regions he has went to.
