After everyone left ted walked over to where the dock where he would usually see three or four fisher men or kids jumping into the water. He didn't want to admit it out loud but he wished one would not know how to swim just so he could do something. Ted sat down at the end of the dock and took his socks and shoes off. He set them aside then dipped his feet into the water. The water was cold. Ted knew he would never be the last one to jump into the water at night. Just too cold. He looked across the water. It was calm.  The moonlight was gone now due to the clouds passing by. He grabbed a handful of the water and splashed some on his face. The shock of the water coming then going. He looked back out across the water. Then he heard a voice from behind him.
"You good ted?" He heard conner said. He turned around to face him.
"Yeah. Just nit ready to go home yet. Love the beach, you know." Ted said.
"Me too. Its crazy. You grow up in a place like this and all you ever want to do is swim." Conner said laughing a little to himself.
"To me it just means I want to get out of here. Find something new. You know what I mean?" Ted said seriously.
"Do I ever!  We see the same thing everyday. Water, sand, and the town. But not far from here its completely different." Conner said.
"Have you ever thought of leaving?" Ted asked him.
"Look ted. I have but who would actually do it. People come here. No one goes there." Conner said. Tedd nodded understandingly.
"Yeah but I just feel like there's something better for me to do." Ted said taking his feet out of the water. He took the towel off conners shoulders.
"Maybe. Maybe not. I know graduation is coming up but don't think you have to make a decision by then." Conner said. Ted nodded his head and put his socks and shoes back on.
"Yeah I hear you. Wanna come over to my house and play some video games." Ted asked.
"You read my mind." Conner said. They both stood up and started to walk away.
"Don't forget your shirt!" Ted called to conner as he walked ahead.
"It's cool. Small town. It'll show up at some point." Conner said.
