Shinji's pov

I had been going out with (y/n) for a couple of months and things were going great but I still had a question I was scared to ask. If she wasn't married how come she had two kids of different age? That wasn't important now though. A villain was spotted downtown and I was rushing to the scene to help. When I got there I saw a couple of other heroes who where either trying to save citizens from burning buildings or keeping them away from the scene. I saw (h/n) creating a makeshift tape to keep the civilians back with her whips. I rushed towards the buildings and helped take out the citizens. The flames were getting really close to me making me worry. After I pulled all the people out of the building I saw a fire erupt extremely close to me due to some of the building collapsing. Before I could do anything I felt something wrap around my waist and pulling me to a place safe. I fell on top of someone. Opening my eyes to see who it was I came face to face with my girlfriend. "(y/n)? What are you doing here it's dangerous!" I said anxious but then I paid closer attention and saw that she wearing (h/n) suit her mask having been burnt. 'No way' she opened her eyes and immediately they widened. "Sh-Shinji?" I got off of her quickly wrapped my forehead. There is no way that one of my favorite people in the world is the hero that pisses me off the most. She was still on the ground shocked. "This is bad." she said. "Kamui Woods is you? Say something" she pleaded. "What am I supposed to say now that I found out that I basically hate my girlfriend?!" she flinched. "Well how am I supposed to feel now that my boyfriend has been the one always telling me I'm doing things wrong and crushing my confidence every time I do my job?!" I stopped talking. "You no longer can hide your identity so I'm going to go check how things are out there. Stay here I'll meet you in a bit." I said leaving.

Your pov

I was standing in the sidewalk listening to all the other heroes take the praise for taking out the villain and stopping the fire. Soon Shinji came back and took. "(y/n) I'm-" he started saying something. "Oh no you don't get to speak first! I didn't do anything for you to have a reason to hate me and I am pretty fucking good at what I do with more heroes wanting me to be their sidekick every single day so some stupid excuse about that won't work! There is literally no reason for you to hate me and if you can't see that or respect what I do I have no reason to be with you." I said ready to storm off but he grabbed my hand. "You're right. I don't hate you and if I did, I can assure you that it's not because of that. It just pissed me off that you were so good at being a hero even though you had no experience at all. Please, give me a chance to prove myself." he asked me. I looked at the ground. "I have experience." I said. He looked at me. "I studied to be a hero in America and on a mission I had about five years ago I failed to save Zuko and Shuri's parents. I didn't want them to go to foster care or end up in an orphanage so I decided on an early retirement and took them under my wing. Three years ago, we moved here and I decided that I would try pursuing my dream once again with a new identity." I said. "I worked hard and learnt from my mistakes to get to where I am now. I'm not just lucky." "I see." he said. "But, if you are a hero on your own how do you make money to take care of the kids?" he asked. "I already told you. I work as a secretary half time it's not easy but I manage." I responded. "Come work with me." he said catching me off guard. "W-What?" "I said come work with me. I need a hero with a fire based quirk in my agency anyways. The fact that it is you makes it even better because even though I hate to admit it you're worth it." he said. I thought about it. "Fine, but that doesn't mean I'll forget how much of a d*ck you where before." I said walking towards him. "Will you forgive me though?" "Do I get to mention that you're an asshole on any future argument?" I asked. "Sure." "Then yes, I forgive you." I said and closed the distance between us.
