Haley and Melissa were having dinner. The sounds of the radio in the background were calming. Melissa realized that she still hasn't told her mom and dad about her and Jordan. And she wanted to get it over with now. At least with her mom.

She sipped on her orange juice and looked at her mom, not sure how to tell her. "I need to tell you something, mom."

Haley immediately gave her daughter her full attention. "Ok. Tell me what?" She asked.

"You know that Jordan and I are best friends, right?" Melissa started the conversation.

Haley chuckled at that. Everybody in their lives knew that. "I've noticed, sweetheart."

"Yeah, right. Of course, you know that." Melissa continued. "Well, there are some news I haven't told you. After the dance, Jordan came here, and we talked."

"I remember. He left his shoes. Which is still a mystery to me." Haley said, thinking back to the night her youngest daughter was on the front porch with the Baker boy.

"He was on the beach before he came to our house and you don't need shoes on the beach, so he kept them off. I don't know why he wouldn't put them on to get here. But that doesn't really matter right now." Melissa rambled.

Melissa didn't think she would be so nervous about telling her mom. Telling her dad was going to be a whole different story, but this was her mom. She knew Haley would be happy for them.

"So, one thing led to another and I told him that I like him. More than a friend."

Haley smiled at this confession. "I realized that a while ago. You just wouldn't admit it to yourself."

"How did you know? I never said anything?" Melissa was confused. How come everyone knew about her feelings for Jordan before she knew?

"I'm your mom. A mom knows stuff like that. "Haley told her, a big smile on her face. "What did Jordan say?"

Remembering their moment in front of her house made Melissa blush. That didn't go unnoticed by Haley.

"He told me he liked me too. And then we kissed."

"Aww. That's great, Mel. I'm not surprised though. That boy always adored you. It was just a matter of time until you two would get together." Haley told her honestly.

Melissa shyly smiled at her mom. "That's not all. We went on a date and he asked me if I wanted to be his girlfriend. I said yes. So, we're official now."

Just by looking at Melissa's face, Haley could tell how happy her daughter was. Even if it was bound to happen eventually, she was glad that it finally happened.

"Amazing news, Mel," Haley told her. "Your dad owns me $20." She laughed.

Melissa stared at her mom, speechless. "You bet on me and Jordan?" She asked.

"Of course, honey. Like I said, it was obvious that you two had feelings for each other." Haley explained her very irritated daughter.

"You and dad are the weirdest parents ever," Melissa said. "Does that mean I don't have to tell dad?"

Haley started laughing at that question. "You're not getting around that. But your dad loves Jordan. And more importantly, he loves you. He wants you to be happy, and Jordan makes you happy. Don't worry about your dad's reaction. He'll be happy."

Melissa smiled at her mother's words. She knew that Haley was telling the truth. Her dad loved his kids and his wife more than anything in the world.

"You're still going to be here when I tell him, right?" Melissa asked.

Haley nodded her head and took her daughter's hand in hers. "I'll always be here, Mel."
