"Good morning, Baker family," Melissa announced, walking inside the Baker residence.
Laura Baker was the first to greet the girl. "Good morning, Melissa. Do you want some breakfast?" She asked the girl, pulling her into a hug.
Melissa returned her hug and shook her head. "Already ate, Mrs. B. But thanks for the offer." She declined politely. "Where are the twins?"
At that moment Billy Baker walked into the kitchen. He kissed his wife on the cheek and smiled at Melissa. "They are almost ready."
Billy's and Laura's kids, Jordan and Olivia have been best friends with Melissa since she and her family moved to Beverly Hills. Alongside their other best friend, Asher Adams, they loved spending time together.
"Hey, Mel." Olivia was the first of the twins to walk down the stairs. "Why am I not surprised to see you here?" She asked, with a small smile on her face.
Jordan Baker reached the end of the stairs and smiled cheekily towards his sister. "Because she can't get enough of me, Liv."
Melissa rolled her eyes at his comment, but she still had a small smile on her face. Jordan walked towards the girl and pulled her into a hug.
"In your dreams, Baker," Melissa mumbled into Jordan's chest. Laura and Billy smile at each other, admiring the closeness of their kids and Melissa.
"You always tell me that my dreams will come true one day. So, there's still a chance, Mel."
Everyone started laughing at Jordan's comment while Melissa blushed like crazy. Her and Jordan's relationship has always been special. They understand each other without any words needed. They have always been there for each other, no matter what happened. And they both were really happy about that.
Billy looked at his watch and turned to the teenagers. "Ok, kids. Time to leave for school. Are you riding with me?" He asked, looking at his daughter.
"Yeah, I just have to get a book I forgot in my room. Be right back." Olivia told him.
Melissa said goodbye to Laura and Billy and followed Jordan to his car. A red mustang. She opened the passenger door and waited for Jordan to get into the car.
On their way to school, Jordan noticed that Melissa couldn't sit still for a second. He knew something was up.
"What's up with you? You nervous or something? Did I forget a test?" Jordan asked the girl in the passenger seat.
"Oh, I completely forgot to tell you, J. My brother is coming home tomorrow. He's staying a few days. I haven't seen him in so long." She replied with a big smile on her face.
"That's amazing, Mel. I know how much you miss Jamie. Is your sister coming too?"
Melissa sighed, shaking her head. Lydia, her older sister got accepted into Yale and hasn't been able to visit her family all that much.
"No, she's still in New Haven. I've called her yesterday, but she's really busy. But it's ok." She reassured Jordan. "She gets to attend her dream school and I'm really happy for her." She continued.
Jordan knew how important family was to Melissa. Like himself, she grew up in a household where she never lacked love. Last year, when Olivia wasn't home, he missed her terribly, so he could understand his best friend.
"At least you'll have Jamie all to yourself. That's a plus." Jordan tried to cheer her up. She smiled thankfully at him.
"You're right. You're the best Jordan." Melissa looked outside her window and saw that they arrived at the school.
