Spencer invited a few people to Alvin's block party in Crenshaw. Melissa and Olivia promised to help him out with a couple of things. They were both standing at a table, handing out water, when Chris walked up to them.

Melissa hadn't seen Chris since the night of the Crenshaw versus Beverly game. She didn't like to think back to that night.

"Hi. Would you like a water?" Olivia asked, offering Chris a bottle of water.

"I'm actually here to volunteer. You need any help?" Chris asked her before turning to Melissa. "Hey, Melissa. Long time no see."

"Hey, Chris," Melissa replied and smiled at the boy.

"Honestly, I'm only doing this because it keeps me in the shade. So you two know each other?" Olivia asked.

Melissa and Chris both nodded. "Yeah, we met at Spencer's," Melissa told Olivia.

Chris remembered Melissa, she was a pretty girl, but Olivia definitely caught his eye. "I didn't mean to blow your cover. Let me give you a hand. I'm Chris by the way."

"Olivia, nice to meet you."

Melissa felt like she wasn't needed here anymore and excused herself. Chris was a nice guy and maybe if things with Spencer didn't work out for Olivia, he could be an option.

Layla was talking to Spencer when Melissa walked over to them.

"Are you sure you're not getting any bad vibes from Chynna?" Layla asked.

Earlier, Layla told Melissa about her suspicions. Layla found an engagement ring in her dad's bag and was worried that Chynna was using her dad to become famous. She didn't want her dad to get hurt.

"Look, I know you're trying really hard to find something wrong with her, but I'd give her a chance. I mean, your dad seems to like her." Spencer told her, hoping Layla would understand.

"Well, people have a hard time thinking straight when they're grieving," Layla told him.

"Aren't you still grieving?" Spencer asked.

Melissa saw JP, Layla's dad approaching and smiled at him. She was glad he decided to join them because the conversation between Spencer and Layla could have gotten really awkward.

"Hello, Mr. Keating." Melissa greeted him, so Spencer and Layla would notice him.

"Hi, Melissa. Thanks for helping out." JP said. "Your friend Coop still isn't here." He continued, addressing Spencer.

"She'll be here," Spencer assured him.

Spencer was worried about his best friend. She was hanging out with Shawn and he didn't like that. He knew Shawn since they were kids but unfortunately, Shawn was part of the gang life and Spencer didn't want his best friend around him. He organized for her to be the MC for this party, with the hope of winning Coop back and getting her away from Shawn.

Melissa noticed Spencer looking at Olivia and Chris. She couldn't tell though if it was worry or jealousy.

"Patience!" Melissa exclaimed as she saw the girl. She talked a lot to her and considered her a friend. The girls hugged and Spencer joined them soon after.

"Hey, have you seen Coop?" He asked.

"I'll give you three guesses who she's with." Patience answered and all three of them saw Coop approaching with a guy. This must be Shawn, Melissa thought.

"Yo, you lost?" Spencer asked Shawn, angry that he showed up at the block party.

"Man, I ain't here to start nothing. It's Coop's big day. She wanted her boy by her side, that's all." Shawn told him.
