Turns out one of the scouts wanted to challenge the Beverly Hills Eagles. How? Coach King invited some players from the South Crenshaw team to play in the combine.
Mostly Spencer was nervous about that. His competition was no other than Cameron, his replacement at South Crenshaw. Plus, Chris was one of the players too.
Spencer needed to get a scholarship this weekend, so his mom could stay enrolled in her classes. And Cameron would do everything to get the one spot for himself.
Jordan talked to Spencer about the combine and how Spencer shouldn't worry too much when Cameron joined them.
"Look, I think it's time we give these guys a show. Let them know what us Crenshaw boys do." Cameron said.
Spencer quickly agreed to the idea, and they ended up competing on the 40-yard dash. Usually, it would be individually timed but not this time. Cameron vs. Spencer, all eyes were on them.
Sadly, for Spencer, he wasn't faster than Cameron. Coach King and Brett Hanson, Angeles Southern's number-one booster, were all over Cameron. At that moment, Spencer lost all hope for the scholarship.
Billy saw Spencer's hopeless look and reassured him that he was the best player on the field. It wasn't too late to show the scouts what he could do.
Melissa was sitting on the bleachers, excited to see her friends play. The thing was that Jordan wasn't doing very well. He wasn't bad, but he seemed to have a bad day. Maybe all this talk with his grandfather got more into his head than she thought.
Something else, or rather someone else, Melissa noticed was her best friend, Asher Adams. She was glad to see him after worrying so much about him. More than anything, she felt relief that Asher was still in one piece.
Olivia joined Melissa on the bleachers and saw her friend looking towards Asher.
"I found him in his car," Olivia told her.
Startled by Olivia's voice, Melissa turned her head to look at her friend. "You what?" She asked, utterly shocked.
"He was asleep in his car when I was looking for him. He told me that his dad kicked him out, and he went to Malibu to his mom. No luck there either." Olivia explained.
"I can't believe him." Melissa sighed. "Asher could have called me. Hell, he could have stayed with me. Instead, he chooses his car? Why wouldn't he tell me?"
Olivia knew how close Mel and Asher were, and she couldn't understand Asher's choices. Or maybe she could. She knew how difficult it was to ask for help.
"I think he was embarrassed, Mel. After everything he did, what he and I did, maybe he wasn't ready to show his face. Especially to someone, he cares so much about."
Melissa looked back on the field, thinking about Olivia's words. She was a little hurt. After knowing each other for so long and being best friends, she thought there wouldn't be anything Asher would be embarrassed to tell her.
But this wasn't about her feelings. It was about Asher, and she had to figure out a way to help him through this rough time.
"What do we do?" Melissa asked Olivia. "There's absolutely no way that I will let him stay in his car."
"We'll talk to him," Olivia responded confidently. With Melissa's help, she was sure that they could convince Asher to change his current living situation.

The combine was over by now, but Melissa was still sitting on the bleachers. She was thinking about different ways to help her friend.
