Anderson:
I got back to my room, the vampiress avoiding me as I seethed with a temper worthy that of God himself.
" That cocky, arrogant, self righteous, fucking bastard! I can't wait to rip him apart, the fucking monster!"
I heard the lass chuckle a bit, and it made me wonder. She's been silent up till now, and if she hadn't of said something, I might have believed she'd left.
" What is so damn funny, heathen?"
" I haven't ever heard anyone have the balls to speak so honest about the King, but here we are. You are far from the first to hate the King, but he is who he is by birthright. No other vampire has the same level of power, not even Countess Balthory, and she's almost just as old. Flint would like you, you both have that brashness that makes you seem untamed."
I sit down and breathe, taking in what the lass looked like, my head finally no longer swimming with wrath and worry over my health and that of Tim. Maria looked Albino, her accent spoke of Western American decent, and she wore a white flowy tulle dress that gracefully hung off her shoulders, and it felt like a mockery of her true nature, like a wolf in sheep's cloth.
" What color eyes did you have when you were human?"
" Red. I've always looked like this. Flint turned me so that way we'd be together forever, I his little Albino bunny, and him my timber wolf. Been this way since Woodstock in '69."
" Then that's the story, with the obvious age shit as the thing to leave out. I can't risk anyone getting angry or suspicious. I'm going to need your help in this little wager."
" Cheating isn't very gentlemanly, now is it?"
" It ain't very catholic either, but I stopped giving a shit when it involved my emotions and the well being of Timothy. If I'm going to go to hell and be an Oath breaker, I'm going to do it the Highland way, and make the fucker pay for ever turning Tim."
" I'm not going to lie, I fear for His Grace. He is in the hands of a not so nice man, and I worry just how far the King will go to keep said Prince in check and as his."
" What do you mean by that, Maria?"
" Well, to be quite frank, the King used to have a bride way back named Roza, and she was tragically trapped in a tower near the end of her reign. Rumor has it she was so tired of her imprisonment, she nose dived out of the only window in it. The impact alone killed her, having her turn to dust, only her gown and a lone cursed necklace left."
" What was the necklace? He could gift it and reuse it on Tim."
" Well, the necklace is said to quench the bloodlust of any who wear it, but at the price they never feel the need to feed, thus making them feeble and too weak to fight. It looks like a string of rosary beads, with the place of the crucifix held by a rose carved out of black marble. It is a beautiful necklace, but it means death to any vampire stupid enough to let the beauty trick them into wearing it. I hate to say it but-"
" Tim loves beautiful things. It is a flaw of his I always admired, how he saw beauty in everything, somehow, and this is what let him see what good is in Vlad. Would Vlad go that far?"
" He would, to be frank. He really would. Poor Prince is gonna get Rapunzel-ed if he isn't careful."
" So what do we do?"
" You need to give him something else. Something the King can't touch or remove."
I tried to rack my mind, only to have the perfect idea. It was risky, hell it could cost me my life and job, but the pay off in the long run would be worth it.
