As I woke up and stretched, I noticed Daniel was gone. "Daniel?" I walked at around the entire house to hear nothing. I figured he had gone home and got ready for school. I got ready for the day. I had cheerleading tryouts. Locking the door, I turned around to see a pair of arms pinning me against the wall. Daniel kissed me. "Hey beautiful. You ready for cheerleading tryouts?" I took a deep breath. "I'm really nervous. Usually, i'm not this nervous but I know Ali and Jane are going to be there. Ali is also the captain." He stopped and turned towards me. "You'll be okay, I promise. I'll be there to pick you up," he smiled. "Come here, slugger." He pulled me into a hug, holding my head with his hands. He rubbed my back, making me feel less anxious. "Come on, we don't want to be late. Again" he said. I laughed.
Once first period ended, I grabbed my things and headed to my locker. Tryouts weren't until the end of the day so I wasn't as worried and I still had plenty of time to prepare myself. As I placed my things into my locker, I felt a pair of hands slip into my pocket. I was spun around and I saw Daniel. Daniel kissed me. "You doing okay?" he asked. I laughed. "Is it really that noticeable i'm nervous?" "No," he laughed "I'm just worried about you. I know when you stress yourself out too much you tend to get headaches and all this other stuff." As Daniel talked, he gestured with his hands. I found it cute.
It was finally the end of the day which meant tryouts. The bell finally rang. I grabbed my gym bag and went to the locker room. I saw lots of other girls. I felt my stomach churn. 'Why am I so nervous? What's gotten into me?' I placed my stuff down and began changing. I looked over to my right to see Ali and I looked to my left to see Jane. 'Great. Just great. As if tryouts couldn't get any worse.' "Girls! Like it up!" Ali called. We started with a basic routine. Chants, hand movements, a little tumbling, simple stuff. Ali walked around girl by girl to examine our positioning. Once she got to me she gave me a nasty look. "Y/n, your foot is off, your saying the wrong chant, your tumbling is absolutely awful, and your hair is a mess" she smiled. I rolled my eyes. "You know, if you don't fix this up you won't make the cut." I rolled my tongue across my bottom teeth. "Whatever." She started to laugh. "Okay girls! Pyramid!" Ali yelled. "You've got to be kidding me" I whispered. I walked over towards the rest of the girls when I was tripped. I landed flat on my butt. "Oh! I'm so sorry!" I looked up to see Jane holding her hand out. "It's fine." I took her hand. She gave me a polite smile. "I had no idea you were trying out." "Yeah. I originally wasn't going to but Daniel told me I should." Jane started smirked. "Daniel is such a sweetheart. He's always by my side for everything which i'm really grateful for." 'Don't get jealous. Do not get jealous'. I kept repeating inside my head. "Yeah, yeah he is." We walked over to the rest of the girls doing pyramid. "Finally," Ali rolled her eyes "Y/n you'll be on top for today." My eyes grew wide. 'On top? There's no way I can keep balance'. I Grabbed onto Jane and the girls hoisted me up into the air. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be to keep balance. "On my count, your going to throw the girls up in the air. Flyers, you will rotate your body and they will catch you in a basket" Ali said. I took a deep breath preparing myself. "three, two, one!" I flipped myself and landed in the basket. I smiled to myself, knowing that I did it.
After tryouts, I grabbed my things and ran out to the parking lot to see Daniel. I ran towards him. "How did things go? You feel better?" he asked. "Things were good! I feel a lot better now that tryouts are over with. Why are we still sitting here?" "Babe, don't be mad. Jane doesn't have a ride so I offered to give her one." I but my lip trying to hold back any words that might slip out. "It's okay, I understand." Jane came up to the car. "Do you mind scooting over? I want to catch up with Daniel" she asked. "Actually, theres no room up here. You can sit in the back though" I replied smiling. Daniel looked at me telling me to get in the back. "Actually, i'll sit in the back." I sat in the back listening to their conversation. Her squeaky voice hurt my ears. "So Jane, how far do you live?" I asked. "I live in the hills, I'm actually next door neighbors with Ali." "Great. Just great." I slammed my back into the seat.
We finally arrived at Jane's house. It was about a 20 minute drive. "I'll see you tomorrow Daniel!" I climbed up to the front seat. "Why are you so rude to Jane?" Daniel asked. "Daniel she obviously likes you. You have a girlfriend and I have a right to get mad at her. She's been flirting with you this whole time, do you not see that?" "No, you don't know that. We're just friends. She wants to be friends with you but you don't like her. I'm tired of you not getting along with her. She hasn't seen me in over two weeks so she wanted to catch up, what's wrong with that?" "Daniel what's you problem?" I asked. "No y/n, what's yours?" I turned towards the window as it started to rain. The car ride was silent. All you could hear was the sound of rain hitting the window.
