Katie’s Pov:

Walking to the bus stop all I can feel is the cold Australian morning wind.

My bag must have weighed at least 10,000 kilograms! My back was killing me.

As I waited for my bus, another bus pulled over.”You goin’ to North Bridge High?” I said yeah and reluctantly climbed the bus steps. I was unsure what to do because I was told to catch bus number 20. This was not bus 20, it was bus 74. I was kind of freaking out because I was MEGA confused. All of the worst scenarios were rushing through my head.

I just sat awkwardly waiting for the bus driver to tell me what to do next.

We arrived at the train station where he told me I had to get off.

I was just standing there waiting when a lady and her 3 kids in the same uniform as me came over. “Is this your first day?’ The kind lady asked. I replied in a soft “Yes”

“It’s my daughter Lilly's first day as well,” The lady stated.

She instructed me to what bus to get onto. Lilly had a slight over bight her hair was dark brown pulled up with a red bow. She seemed friendly so we started talking.

On the bus I went back to being awkward.

When we arrived at school, the first thing I heard was the school bell. I start to worry. I didn’t want to be the girl who arrives late on the first day.

Alicia’s POV:

The first day of high school, the day I had been dreading for who knows how long now. I had to leave everything, my friends, my teachers, and my beloved school. There seemed to be fifteen thousand books in my hand dragging me down on the way to orientation. I heard the chatter of girls meeting up with their old friends and the footsteps of eager students. Though I was unhappy to not have any close friends with me, I was glad to be away from Mackenzie, a girl who bullied me for three years in primary school.

I sat at my new desk for what seemed like forever, drawing and sketching on a scrunched up piece of paper I found in my folder. Mrs L loomed over my shoulder, which made me feel claustrophobic. When class finally started, we were told to write two facts about ourselves, then a false one. The other student we paired up with had to guess which was false.

Hilarys Pov:

Great. Just great. Now I have to to get up and speak to people that seem to just glare at me. I looked around the classroom, trying to find someone who looked friendly, something peculiar caught my eye.

She was just sitting there drawing. Her hair flowed down her back from her ponytail like golden red silk, waving gently. It was as soft as silk too. Her piercing emerald eyes could easily be seen from the other side of the room. Her hand flowed expertly over the page and she looked as though she could stay there peacefully forever. I’m amazed. I haven't seen someone just sit there and draw since about grade 3. I wanted to do the activity with her but i didn’t want to disturb her, so I started to walk around the crowded classroom. I approached a tall girl with bleached blonde hair, we did what Mrs L said then stood awkwardly for the next 5 minutes.

“Now girls get into 2 groups and do this same activity” said Mrs.L. So, when it was about to be my turn, my heart was pounding extreamly fast and i was so scared that I was going to talk like a chipmunk. “ok so i hate sports, i am a fashionista and i was born in france, and my lieis that i hate sports.” I stated my heart rate slowing down slowly, once the activity was finished the bell rang.

Sweet! Recess!

It was so bight outside I swear i was almost blinded. Glancing at my surroundings, I tried to search for the girl I saw to class drawing, and I found her. She was sitting on the grass, just drawing.I sat next to her. Light sketches covered the page like a cloud. She lifted her head and said, “Hey, I’m Alicia.”

AHHHHHHHHH. I probably creeped her out by just watching her draw.

Oh damn it  why did I do that!

I felt my cheeks get red until I blurted out “I’m Hillary.” She laughed at me, making my cheeks go redder than they needed to be. It was if I found another version of me. Yes i know that sounds creepy, but it was true! I felt like i had known her my whole life. It was weird.

By the end of the day everyone was rushing to get out of the classroom, like wild animals. I jumped out of the way knocking something out of a girls hand. “OMG, I am so sorry,” I said. I bent down, reaching for the copy of "Divergent" that I knocked out of her hands. Standing back, I came face to face with a pair of friendly brown eyes. There was a small smile on her face as I handed her the book.

”It’s ok, gosh don't worry, it was definitly my fault. I'm Charlotte by the way.”

“Oh, I'm Hilary. Divergent. I've never read this, is it good?’"I asked, and her face lit up as she answered, “OMG, yes, yes it is amazing you should definitely read it, I think this is the 7th time I have read the series now,  but yeah it is great,” she said talking a deep breath, her cheeks returning to their natural colour.  Wow I have never known anyone to read a book more than twice.

Walking out the classroom with Charlotte and Alicia by my side, I felt disbelief fill my mind. Did i really make 2 new friends in the first day? WOW!  Talk about new personal best. I swear I was about to pump my fist in the air like in one of those cheesy movies.
