Chapter Two - Party All Night

I pulled myself into the window with all my strength. I got half way in when my sleeve got caught on a loose nail in the frame. The pane was slipping and I could feel it coming down on me. I heard my gray sweatshirt rip as I yanked myself through. I closed my eyes when I felt the cool floor on my face. My forest green bag was already in and stuff had fallen out when I threw it through. I pushed myself up off the ground and brushed the dirt off my pants. I drank some of the water I brought and walked down the hall looking for another room to sleep in.

I opened the mahogany door slowly. I peeked in cautiously. The room was a mess clothes were piled everywhere. A light was on in the corner. I heard footsteps coming down the hall. They were behind me before I could do anything.

Before I go any farther with this you have to understand the situation. I looked down at my feet as I stood there wondering why I had done it. I realized why I had; I did it the same reason why I had used the knife to shed all that blood, the same reason why I dyed my hair the purplish color it was now. I was messed up and everyone knew it. My mom Jade was that reason.

Moms are supposed to protect their babies, care for them, cuddle them, and love them. Mine just wasn't the motherly type. She just pushed me away into another's arms. Through foster home after foster home the ones who wanted to adopt me I pushed away because I didn't like them, or they weren't the right kind of people. But that's a whole other story this story is the Here and the now.

I heard the footsteps move backwards, as I looked up and turned around. The boy in front of me had coal black hair, which reminded me of peter pan. His Jade eyes were innocent and sincere, the pale skin looked abnormal under his red shirt, his face perfectly carved and symmetrical. He looked like a god next to my five foot four self, lanky figure and my unaligned face. His gaze caught mine and I looked down suddenly.

"So why did you run away?" he asked the same question I asked myself a million times on my way up the driveway. I looked up thinking of a good answer.

"Because I did," I said, "Besides I'm leaving anyways." I grabbed my bag and walked around him to go down the hall to the main staircase.

"You don't have to go," He said grabbing my waist and pulling me back. He grabbed my bag and set it down by the closet. Then he got a blanket and pillow out. "You can have my bed I'll sleep on the couch. By the way my name is Alex." He stated offering his hand.

"Robyn," I replied mesmerized by his eyes. Alex gathered up his blanket and pillow and went downstairs. I shut the door and lay in the bed. When my head hit the pillow I fell into a restful state full of dreams about the past the present and the future.

I knew it was a dream, but it felt so real. The floor was falling from beneath my feet, and the walls fell to reveal a dark passage. My feet flew about trying to find the floor, and my hands struggled to reach the walls. My hair flew in my face and into my mouth. I tried screaming but not a sound was coming out. For what seemed like hours I fell after a while I had fallen into a conscious state of sleep. The next thing I knew my face had hit the floor with a sickening and deftly crunch.

I awoke screaming with a cold rag on my head and my body covered with sweat. Alex walked in the room with a cold glass of water, which he handed to me. I sat there for a minute sipping and thinking, thinking and sipping. Until eventually Alex asked me if I was Ok. I nodded in a dazed state in which I didn't want to come out of. The light streaming through the window combined with the light from the lamp on the bedside table were blinding me and giving me a headache.

"You okay?" Alex asked handing me two aspirin. I hesitantly took them out of his hand.

"Yeah the lights just giving me a headache and I think I need more sleep." I replied. He nodded and shut the curtains and turned off the lamp. I muttered thank you and turned over towards the clock. It was almost 3:00 in the afternoon. I heard him quietly shut the door and walk down the hall.
