Chapter Four - Right Or Wrong.

I woke up when I heard someone stamping up the steps, and heard them drop something in the hallway. I ignored it thinking it was the maid, and fell back asleep.

" Alex!" The scream was shrill and demanding. I nudged him in the ribs and he slowly wiped the sleep from his eyes and sat up.

"What time is it?" He asked groggily.

"Like five." I said standing up and stretching. I pulled the mess that I knew was my hair back into a ponytail, my bangs falling into my face. "Someone was just yelling for you." I said as he wrapped his arms around me.

"They can wait." He said kissing me sweetly. We heard the door to the room open, but he ignored it and kept kissing my lips crushing me to him.

"Excuse me, but why is all the stuff that was in bags back in my closet and who is that?" the girl asked bitterly. Alex's lips froze as he let go of my face. He sighed and turned around.

"Amethyst what are you doing back?" Alex asked surprised to see her standing there.

"I'll go get my stuff." I said moving to wiggle out of his grip. He locked his arms around me and told me not to go anywhere.

"So are you going to explain or what. I'm tired and mom and dad still want to talk to you so I suggest you get it over with like now." She said tapping her foot on the hardwood.

"This is Robyn, my girlfriend, and she's staying in your room." He said rubbing my back gently.

"Oh so you get a girlfriend and she moves into my room takes my old clothes and you expect me to be okay with this stranger who is obviously sleeping in my bed. Great just, great Amy!" she yelled. We heard the click of shoes as the maid came running up the stairs.

"Yes, Ms. Amethyst." She said curtsying.

"I need a new set of linen sent up to my room." She said swishing her hair to the side.

"Yes mam." Amy said scurrying out of the room.

"Mom, Dad!" Alex yelled grabbing my hand and pushing past Amethyst to go down the stairs.

"Don't waste your breath they're fighting again." A boy said stepping out of a room next to Amethyst's. He looked just like Alex except he had brown hair and brown eyes.

"Who's this?" he asked looking at me.

"That's his girlfriend Robyn." Amethyst said practically tasting poison at the sound of my name.

"Look I have to talk to mom and dad. What are ya'll doing back anyways?" Alex asked. The boy stuck his hand out to shake mine.

"Josh, Alex's brother. We're home because when mom found out that you finally have a girlfriend, nevertheless one that broke into our house, after all these years she begged dad to come back home, and so here we are." He explained. Amethyst just rolled her eyes and walked back into her room. We could hear her throwing things into boxes.

"Alex sweetie we're home." A lady yelled stepping out of a room at the end of the hall.

"Hi, mom. Robyn can stay right?" He asked looking pitiful at the thought of me leaving.

"She knows everything you can't make her leave now." A tall man came out of the doorway his eyes and hair the same color as Alex's.

"She has to stay now then." He said looking at me and smiling. "We'll clean out a room for her tomorrow, tell Amethyst to get the clothes and shoes she was going to throw away, and put them in the storage room next to yours. I'll get John and Amy to clean out the room and to put all the furniture in there. For tonight she can sleep in your bed and you can sleep on your couch ok?" he stated. Alex nodded and smiled pulling me along to Amethyst's room.

"Sweetie leave Robyn. Okay?" His mom said. Alex let go of my hand and I stood there feeling awkward. "My name is Alice and this is my husband Michael. Now listen we've graciously invited you into our home even though you broke in. So no funny business your to be in your own room at 10:30 each night. It's the same for all of our children. Tomorrow we'll take you out to get paint for your room and some sheets and curtains, also some rugs." She said looking at Michael to make sure she didn't forget anything.

"You really don't have to spend any money on me." I replied looking down.

"Don't be silly, we didn't think Alex would ever find somebody who he really liked." She said her baby blue eyes full of sadness. I nodded my head, and said goodnight to Alice and Michael. "If you need anything just call us that is our room right down at the end of the hall." She said pointing to a huge mahogany door. I nodded and walked the opposite direction to Alex's room.

As I lay on the bed thinking about Alex's family and how at home I felt here. His bed was so comfortable and my eyes were starting to shut when Alex walked in. I smiled up at him as he put on a different shirt. He smiled back and came and lay down next to me. He put his arm over my stomach and kissed my cheek. I turned on my side facing him and thought about how happy I was since I came here. I rested my hand on his neck and realized how cold he was. He got up and turned the light out and then came and lay back down next to me. He kissed me one last time before I curled up next

to him and fell asleep.

I felt someone close to my face as I opened my eyes. His cold lips pressed down on mine before I even had my eyes opened. I slid off the bed and wiped my eyes. Someone knocked on the door as Alex pulled me onto his lap to kiss me again. The door opened and Josh poked his head in. "Is this your purse?" He asked holding up my bag. "Oh do I need to come back later?" He said setting my purse on the floor. Alex moved me onto the couch.

"Yeah that's my purse." I said getting up to get it.

"Well it's been ringing all morning." He said throwing it to me. I caught it, but just barely. I pulled the metallic phone out and looked at the ID.

"Thanks, Excuse me." I said moving past Alex to go to his bathroom. I dialed the number 245-4657. My hands trembled nervous wondering who it could be.

"Hello?" a familiar voice asked into the phone.

"Hi, This is Robyn did you call?" I asked hoping it was the wrong number.

"Hey baby its Jade, your mother, Can you please come home? Please? I'm out of jail now, and I really miss you. I miss you a lot. I met someone too. He's so sweet." She giggled.

"That doesn't change anything. So stop calling me." I said knowing the words would hurt her.

"Please sweetie. I'm your mom. You can't just stay with some random guy you just met over spring break." She replied with worry in her voice.

"Your not my mom!" I screamed dragging my words out. I took a deep breath, "Look you don't get it I don't want you in my life. If you want to know the truth I didn't meet him over spring break. I ran away and I met him because I thought the house was empty, but he lived here and he said I could stay. So there, just because you're out of jail and you've met someone doesn't mean you can just try to come back into my life. What I'm about to tell you you need to tell Ann too. I don't want you in my life and I never will so stop calling me and don't e-mail me! Don't talk to me or try to see me! If you do I will call the police. Got it? Bye!" I yelled hanging up. My phone slipped from my hand to the floor and slid across the linoleum and hit the bathtub. I broke into jagged and broken sobs. I rested my head on the cool linoleum floor tears making a puddle next to my face. I searched through the vanity and found a razor. My hand was shaking while I watched as the blood dripped down to the floor to mix in with the salty tears. I threw the razor to the side and sat there as the deep red blood flowed out of my arm. I slid down into a sitting position against the bathtub as I heard Alex banging on the door.
