As soon as Hazel had disappeared into his room, Diego parked the car behind a stationary ice cream truck, grabbing the couple of tools he needed from the glove compartment before getting out.
He discreetly headed over to the light blue car and dropped to his stomach before placing a tracking device under the car. He got to his knees and pulled up the antenna of his tracker to set it, and once the light began to flash and beep in unison with the tracker, he headed back to his car.
He looked out of his window, then seeing the curtains draw at the room that Hazel had been in, and muttered, "Bingo."
Klaus sipped from his bottle of vodka, watching as Diego prepared his utility gear with knives.
Klaus wrinkled his nose as he pointed out, "You do know that killing these people is not gonna make you feel any better."
"Yeah, but when it's done" —Diego looked towards his brother with a small grin— "I'm gonna sleep like a baby."
"Sure you will," Klaus humoured him before taking another long sip.
Diego's attention was suddenly drawn back to the room as the door opened, and he watched as Hazel came out, a wooden ice bucket tucked under his arm. He turned and headed to the left, soon disappearing from view.
"Stay in the car," Diego instructed Klaus, who immediately countered the demand.
"What are you talkin' about? This guy tortured me."
"I have a plan," Diego reassured him before heading out of the car, giving Klaus a warning glare before slamming the door shut.
Diego headed up the stairs, his mind and body on full alert as his eyes roamed around him. He made it onto the top landing before stopping, unsheathing his double-ended knife before he was about to spring into attack.
"So, what exactly is the plan here, big guy?"
A feeling of irritation immediately filled up inside of Diego as he paused. "I told you to wait in the car."
"Yeah," Klaus sighed, "but you also told me that licking a nine-volt battery would give me pubes."
Diego turned his head towards the man, muttering, "We were eight."
Klaus took a drink from his bottle before shrugging. He took a step onto the top step and was about to pass Diego before Diego pressed a hand against his chest.
"Uh-uh, uh-uh."
Diego grabbed onto the collar of Klaus's fur coat and began to drag him down the stairs.
"What? Come on," Klaus whined as he clambered down.
"For once, I need you to listen to me, okay? Now, go back to the car." Diego came to a stop as they reached the bottom and raised his eyebrows as he put his hands on Klaus's shoulders. "If I don't come out in two minutes, that means I'm probably dead."
Klaus's eyebrows furrowed. "So . . ."
"That happens, go get help," Diego continued as Klaus tickled his elbows. "Okay?"
