9/1/23:*chapters 1-6 are rewritten on AO3!*
It's been TWO YEARS since I finished this story. Oh my god. Did I then publish one chapter in book two and immediately question all lore? Yes, maybe I did. But, two years older Annie is finally making some changes and revisiting this story.
I'm changing the ending around a bit since I'm changing book two around a lot. For now, edits have been made to Chapter 39. Some more edits might come in the future, but I really can't say for sure! Hopefully, with things making more sense now (and I kid you not fifty years and three generations' worth of lore built up in my Google Docs) I will have more motivation to keep going with book two!! Anyway, if this is your first time reading, welcome!! Everything in my original preface (below) still rings true.
I hope that you enjoy and that at least one person loves reading this story as much as I love writing it.

Dear reader,
First of all, thank you for being here!! Before you begin, I want to tell you a little bit about this story.
This story, and all of its characters (the ones who belong to me, at least), are dedicated to a classmate and friend who I lost last year.
My friend lost her battle with mental health in November of 2019. She was a strong, talented, bright young girl, and there was so much potential which was lost when she decided she couldn't keep on fighting.
What I have to say to you, is: you can always keep fighting. No matter the situation, no matter what's going on inside your head and around you in your life, you can always keep fighting. I don't have to meet you to know how strong you are,
If you or a loved one are struggling with your mental health or with destructive thoughts, please do not hesitate to reach out to 1-800-273-TALK (8255). Other available resources include The Trevor Project for LGBTQ+ youth (the trevor project.org), The Jed Foundation for youth and young adults (jedfoundation.org), or 911 or your country's emergency services number in case of what may be an emergency.
Remember: you can do this. You can fight this fight, and you will be victorious.
To my dearest friend:
The world will miss you forever.
