•Karma's POV•
I heard footsteps behind me and turned around. She glared at me as she saw I rearranged everything by the front door. I laughed and opened the door. She pushed me out of the way and laughed as I caught myself on the door frame. She walked out, telling me to close the door after myself. I did and then walked up to her. She waited for me by the gate to her front yard.
We turned left on the sidewalk and went to the next door house. These houses are bigger and nicer than mine. She's sitting pretty. I glance over at her. She's smiling as she stares at the moon. Really pretty.
She leads me into the gate to the neighbors yard. The front door to the house opened and a large german shepherd ran out and into (Y/N)'s arms. She laughed as he knocked her over and licked her face. She put the leash on him and stood up, dusting herself off. She thanked the neighbors and we began to walk back to her place.
"I just realized I never asked his name," I said as I looked at the dog happily prance in front of us.
"Tugboat."
"Tug... boat?" That's interesting.
"Yeah, he's a rescue. The neighbors kids named him. Since they had him before giving him to us."
"Huh," I say as I look at him.
He stops and freezes. His legs all spread apart and his tail is high. He looks like a cartoon dog. He stared at the car in front of us then growled. We both stopped and stared at it, ready for someone to pop out and attack us.
Suddenly a cat scurried out from under the car and into the yard across the road. Tugboat barked at it before (Y/N) lightly pulled the leash. He stopped and looked at her, then started to prance back towards her gate.
She giggled at him. I involuntarily smiled as she does. Why? That's weird.
"Hey, I still have to kick your ass in Slap Jack," I say trying to distract myself. "You said you have cards so let's play."
"The cards are in my room, we can play there if you want."
I agreed to it. I'm definitely messing with stuff in her room. I enjoy annoying her. We got inside and she let Tugboat off the leash. He darted around the house happily. Then he ran up the stairs, I'm guessing into the kitchen. I followed (Y/N) up the stairs and to her room.
She walked over to a shelf in the corner, then began to look around for the cards. I wandered around and moved some things. I switched out a couple picture frames and moved some little things to make it look a bit messy. She grabbed a small box of cards out of a drawer and told me to sit. I sat on the bed and crossed my legs. She came over and sat across from me, copying my position.
She dealt the cards. We started the game. She beat me. She's just barely faster than me. I accidentally hit the back of her hands so many times it turned slightly red. She didn't seem to care though.
"Again. That was just luck," I feel myself getting frustrated as I lose again.
She dealt the cards again. Then of course she was winning again. I can feel my face heating up as I slowly get more angry. I slapped my hand down just as she did. My hand landed on hers. Shit.
She giggles when sees how angry I'm getting. I feel the butterflies flood into my stomach. That's weird. I look at her face and she's smiling. What am I getting feelings or something? I've never liked anyone before. That can't be it. She said something about the tea making her stomach feel weird earlier. That's probably it. I haven't even known her for two weeks. I'm overthinking it.
Just thinking that made me angry. I need to not overthink such simple things. I don't like her. It was the tea. I don't lose my cool over stupid shit like this.
