"That bruise," Nico pointed at my face, "where'd you get it?"

"I got in a fight at school," I casually responded.

"With who?" He glowered at Karma.

"Are you just now noticing it?"

"I noticed it earlier. I was just too distracted with what was happening with Alastor."

"Good on you, seeing the bigger picture," I walked past him and Karma followed.

Nico reached out and grabbed Karma's arm, stopping him. Karma turned around and glared at him. Nico's eyes filled with anger. "Did he do that?"

"Nico. Let him go. We're going to my room. Goodnight."

"Answer the fucking question, (Y/N)."

"Yeah," Karma responded with a smirk.

Nico punched him in the face. Karma's smirk was replaced with a scowl. He raised his hand to hit Nico back. I clasp his arm and rested my hand on his chest. He only glared at me.

"Karma, let's go upstairs. Your eye is starting to bruise." Nico's punch landed on Karma's right eye, which was now turning from red to a faint purple.

Karma pulled his arm out of my hand and turned back to Nico. He stepped forward, ready for a fight. I put myself between them.

"Nico, it isn't that big of a deal. Karma, don't touch him."

"He hit me," Karma's eyes darkened as he looked at Nico. His blood lust was worse than when we fought earlier.

"You hit her," Nico looked at me. "So what, are you just going to go from one abusive relationship to another?"

"Nico, we aren't fucking dating. I don't want a relationship right now."

"Then what do you want?"

"I want you guys to cut your shit."

Karma looked at me and then turned around and stormed away. I turned to Nico and spoke softly. "Nico, Karma didn't hit me just to hit me. We were sparring. Sure, he could have been more gentle, but I would have done the same if I was angry. I have done the same, with other people. So just drop it. Thank you for caring and goodnight."

"Wait," Nico said. "Is he staying the night?"

"Probably," I hope so. I don't want another repeat of last weekend. If he walks out like that and treats me the way he did again, I'll leave him for good. I don't want to lose him, but I won't have another Alastor.

I turn and walk upstairs, leaving Nico alone in the kitchen. When I get to my room Karma is laying on my bed, with his hands behind his head. I closed the door and locked it so that Nico wouldn't let Tugboat in while I slept. I don't like being woken up.

"Karma, are you okay?" He sat up, his eye was still really red. I walked over to him and lightly touched his face. He quietly stared at me. I sat down beside him.

"I'm going to get your brother back."

"Karma, no-"

"He hit me."

"Because you hit me."

He smiled at me and wrapped me in a hug. Why is he being so touchy? That feels out of character for him. He whispered in my ear. "Let's play Slap Jack. I'm going to beat you eventually."

"Beat me physically or in Slap Jack?" I ask jokingly.

"I've already won every fight."

"Not the first one or the one by that tree."
