Part 16: The Saviors

(Hey! More pov jumping because I thought it was fun!)

Niki reluctantly unlocked the gates to L'Manburg. She was tired, and Sapnap burned one of her plants so she felt like she was wilting.

"They're in there," Sapnap walked towards the van. "George, get over here."

"Maybe you're just sensing the gasoline?" Niki asked, hoping to fool them. "Gasoline catches on fire, right?"

"Plenty of things catch on fire," Sapnap tried to open the door to the van, but it was locked. He glared at Niki. "I know what I'm doing."

Sapnap punched the van door. "Does one of you have the key to this piece of junk?!"

"Uh..." Fundy scratched his fox ears. "I think that might be... uh... Wilbur's-"

"Of course it is," George sighed. "Should we go get them?"

"Dream will kill all four of us if we go back without the discs," Sapnap kicked at the grass. "I'll ask Karl to get them for us."

Niki dreaded every second that she was watching the secrets behind L'Manburg get exposed and doing nothing about it. If they saw the brewing stands and files, what next? They might try and search the Sleepy Bois Inc or her bakery, and they could not see what was under her bakery.

Eventually, the guy who must be Karl came running through the forest. He was holding the keys to the van that were decorated with a fish key chain and a book in his other hand.

"Sapnap, catch!" Karl tossed the keys. "You totally owe me, it took me like five tries to get those keys with no one noticing. I am exhausted."

"Thanks, dude," Sapnap climbed up the retractable stairs on the van. "Now-"

"Wait!" Niki stalled. "The discs aren't even in there, though! Right, Fundy?!"

"Oh, uh... right!" Fundy snapped his head up. "The discs are incredibly far into the forest. Like, oh my gosh. When Tommy first showed us-"

"Alright, fine," Sapnap rolled his eyes and put the keys in his pockets. "Take us to them."

Niki was glad Fundy was good at lying. He took everyone to a part of the forest even Niki hadn't been to. She doubted they could keep the others fooled for much longer, but at least they're far from any backup.

"Where the hell is this?" George looked around. "We've been walking for forever."

"They tricked us!" Karl yelled. "There's nothing here!"

"Nice going, Karl." Sapnap scoffed.

"What do you mean?!" Karl yelled, offended.

"You could have warned us that the discs weren't out here!"

"How was I supposed to know that?! You know I can't go to the future!"

"Hey!" George shouted suddenly. The other two looked at him. "Stop arguing and let's focus on the problem at hand."

George pulled Sapnap and Karl closer and started whispering. Niki couldn't hear anything, but Fundy's eyes went wide.

"Try and take out Karl first," Fundy whispered. "Then run."

"What?!" Niki looked back over to the three and saw them drawing weapons.

Niki ducked out of the way of a fire dagger and shot a vine up at Karl's feet. The vine quickly entangled him, and he dropped the book he was holding. Sapnap tried to burn the vine off, but he was also burning Karl, so he turned his attention back to the fight.
