(Forgive me and my little chess knowledge, in a sucker for parallels but I don't know much about it. Also tw death and blood.)

Tommy was sat down glaring at Dream. They were on the top floor of a building with massive windows, Tommy's chair he was sitting trapped on by Punz was up against one. Dream sat staring back at him, both in front of a chess board.

"Have you played?" Dream asked casually, as if they were like they were two friends just hanging out. "You haven't. I'll show you."

Tommy sat being angry in silence while Dream explained the rules of chess. What a fucking nerd.

"Wouldn't someone notice?" Tommy thought out loud. Not like he could hide his brain from Dream anyway. "With the windows, someone has ought to notice you holding me hostage."

"Right now we look like two friends hanging out to the people below," Dream shrugged. "I also have someone making sure no one does anything, one of Punz's friends. Are you ready to play?"

"Let me guess," Tommy rolled his eyes. "Tormenting me and my friend for three years straight was one massive plot to finally have a pal to play a board game with."

"To play a game," Dream ignored Tommy and started setting up the pieces on the board. "Sometimes things in life are like chess, no? The different pieces, the players, I can see quite a few similarities."

"Enlighten me," Tommy was stalling, but Dream probably knew that. "Are you the king or some shit? You're the kind of guy to call themselves the most important piece."

"No," Dream thought for a second. "Is say one king is the discs and the other is like your power. I'm more like a knight, I'm an easy price to forget what they can do, and it's really good to back other pieces into corners."

"What about me?" Tommy couldn't bare this conversation, how much Dream did all the awful things just for fun as part of his game.

"You're the queen." Dream said matter of factly.

"I'm a girl?!"

"No," Dream sighed in frustration. "You can do a lot, go in any direction. Not the most important piece, but still more powerful than it. Before the Dream Team figured out your powers, you were just as unpredictable, even surprising me."

"Wait," Tommy didn't get it. "Why is my power a separate piece, then?"

"I need to get rid of it to win," Dream said. The board was all set up. "While your powerful, you could easily be removed from the game and I could keep playing. I just need your power-"

"So you're going to kill me?" Tommy was honestly more angry that scared right now.

"Well, no," Dream explained. "I've said it before, you're too fun to kill. Who knows, make the right move and maybe you could keep your powers. Working under me, of course."

Tommy turned his head to look out if the window. As much of a life and death situation this probably was, it was really boring. Dream had stopped talking and went over to his shelf of discs, picking up a black one. The elevator door opened.

Tommy zoned out when he saw Tubbo, like he was trapped in his own mind. They got him. He thought Tubbo got away with Fundy, but Fundy wasn't here, so he got away at least. Fundy could warn everyone!

Tubbo had the same blank look on his face as he did in L'Manburg when Dream was threatening to kill him. Standing next to him was Ranboo for some reason. Tommy felt anger swell up in his chest before noticing the green glow behind his sunglasses, like how Techno had.

"... game..." The word snapped Tommy back into reality.

"Game?!" Tommy lashed out. "This is all a game to you?! People's lives and we'll being are just some gamble you're trying to win?!"
