he was just passing by, choi jihoon that is. he wanted to go to the seaside before packing his things to visit his mother in japan. it's not like he didn't want to. in fact, he missed his mother dearly.
his crimson eyes glanced at the bottle being swayed back and forth in front of him, as if begging to be picked up. answering its imaginary cries for help, he retrieved the bottle and observed it. he had only seen this scenario in k-dramas and movies.
his eyebrows furrowed, trying to figure out why he was the one that found this bottle. it could've been anyone but it was him. in the middle of the night. a day before he was supposed to leave korea for japan.
shrugging and deciding he'd read it before he went to bed, jihoon turned his heel and walked back to the direction of his apartment.
to be frank, he loved where his apartment was built. it was right next to the beach. his windows had a nice view of korea's city lights and calming beach- it perfectly contrasts each other.
once he stepped inside his apartment and heard the familiar tune of his door being locked, he sat on his small desk and popped open the bottle. he didn't how how long it had been travelling from who knows where to korea but it smelled fresh. like it had just been made.
the scent of the sea lingered around his room for a bit and he was getting excited. he had never recieved letters nor read them before. it's not like this letter was directed towards him, it was just the feeling of satisfaction when opening a letter that he didn't specifically make.
his eyes scanned at the basic piece of paper the writer used to put on some message that they had to send it to the sea. however he was not one to judge. the only thing that matters are the contents of the letter.
as he read through the intricate writings and the words the person used he ended up crying over how heart felt it was. no, he wasn't one for crying but this just moved him to tears. was it the fact that it was sent in a bottle that made it more special and heartbreaking? he didn't know.
as he made random sounds of agony and exaggerated hand motions, his eyes made their way to the bottom of the paper where a name was written. getting curious as to who write such a moving letter, he read it carefully only to realize that this part was in japanese and not in english.
his eyebrows raised in amusement, seeing as how they wrote the entire letter in english but was smart enough to write their name in japanse with the small chance that their message could end up somewhere else other than japan.
he groaned in frustration, glad he was able to understand what the writer said due to his knowledge in english but annoyed that he skipped out on japanese lessons in his second year of highschool.
"guess my trip to japan won't be so boring with this information." he grinned to himself before packing his things to go to the airport tomorrow.
