It Started With a Vacation

Chapter 5

Courtney's pov:

Its been a couple of days here at the Bahamas and its been so fun. From going to the beach almost every night to having long conversations on the couch with your close best friends is really the best. Its the weekend so we decided to have a night in and relax "we should play some games guys!" Sarah said "ooh ooh ooh I got an idea" Olivia said "please let it not be truth or dare" Keith whined "oh Keith thats a great idea yes let's do that! Anyone wanna play? Courtney? Shayne?" Olivia said being way to obvious about her goal while playing the game, which if you didn't figure out at this point is probably to get me and shayne to do something coupley.

"Pleeassee" she begged. "Ugh fine I'll  play. Boys?" I said. "Fine  might aswell."  Noah replied. Everyone sat in a circle on the floor and Keith started "Noah truth or dare?" "Um I'll start off easy with a truth" "really? Okay um.. whats your favorite thing about your gf?" "Umm that would have to be... dang there's to mayne.. um her laugh" okay" Keith said finishing. Noahs turn "Shayne truth or dare?" "Well I'd have to go dare obviously" "alright um.." he said looking around " play spin the bottle and whoever you land on has to do a dare with you" he said. "Fine" I grabbed a bottle from the kitchen and put it in the middle and spun it. Of course it had to land on Courtney. "Ooh I got a dare for them! Liv said "oh okay go ahead livliv" Noah replied. "You guys have to go on a date tomorrow" "w-what?" We both said "yall have to do it its the dare"  "fine it can't be that bad i mean were already friends so it should be fun!" "Yeah" shayne said

(Skip to the next night their date) Shaynes pov:

"Shayne you almost ready?" She said walking in my room. Dang she's pretty, only if she know how much I liked her "shayne you're staring" "oh um y-yeah um sorry um yeah let's get going" I replied. We got in the car and Courtney started talking "sorry we got forced to do this" "no it's fine its gonna be fun!" I said."okay, where are we going anyways?" "I was thinking we could get some food and go to the beach to have a little picnic." "Ooh, its a good thing I don't go anywhere with out my swimsuit." "Court you don't know how to swim" "I know that" she said.

We pulled up in the drive through and got our food and headed to the beach. We set up a blanket we bought from my room and layer it on the sand and ate and talked and talked. " you see the waterside over there?"  "Yeah?" I replied "wanna go down it?" " court it goes straight into the ocean you can't swim" "yeah but ill be fine if I'm on a float, pleaassee?" "Fine, how can I say no to you?" "Thanks!" She replied and grabbed my hand and raced towards the slide. I would be lying if I didn't say I was nervous because she can't swim. The slide only allowed one at a time so I waited at the bottom so I could watch her go down. She had a big smile on her face that I loved.

 She made it to the bottom but as soon as she landed she fell off the float and landed in the water then I realised she count swim "COURTNEY!" I yelled. I was getting scared because she was under the water and never came up. I ran into the water to get her. Luckily the water wasn't to deep but deep enough to where she couldn't stand which made me scared. I dove down to find her and luckily I did. 

She's unconscious and I don't know what to do. I tried cpr and it didn't work so  I called 911 and while I was waiting i gave her mouth to mouth.. I cause I don't know what else to do. They came and took her to the hospital and I went with her. The doctor told me that she had water in her lungs and needed to stay for awhile. I told her everything that happened and she was glad we came.

"So what your relation to her?" She asked. "Um I'm her...f- friend" I sighed "you like her don't you?" "That obvious huh?" "Only because I've been in a similar situation as you" she left the room and I sat on her bedside and decided to call 0livia. At this point it had gotten late the sun went down and we've been in the hospital for awhile.

S:Olivia! Sorry I didn't call you sooner but something happened

O: shayne what happened where have you guys been its getting pretty late

She was right it was almost 10 p.m. normally we'd call if we were gonna stay out this late.

S: we're at the hospital liv.

O: what??? Are you guys okay??

S: I'm fine but Courtney went down the waterside at the beach and she flew off her float into the water and almost drowned. The doctor said she's fine and she'll  wake up soon. I thought I'd tell you because you're her closest friend.

O: thank you.  I'll tell the others. And by the way, you are too... her best friend i mean. And by the way I see the way you look at her. Just don't hurt her.

S "chuckles" yeah hehe I'll see ya soon

I ended the call and Courtney started waking up." Courtney??" "Wh-what happened" "Courtney you scared the crap out of me" let's just say I hugged her for a long time.  "Shayne I'm okay I'm here" I had tears running down my face im just glad she's okay. "Shayne whats wrong?" All of a sudden some of the gang came in the room "I'm fine but when you  get out of the hospital I wanna talk to you about something thats important to me" "okay.. shayne is everything okay?" Inodded my head.

 "Oh my gosh court what happened are you okay??" Liv asked. Courtney looked at me confused "I called  her i thought she'd  want to know what happened i mean its pretty late " I responded. "Yeah I'm okay liv I'll  be out of here soon" well I'm glad" Liv said as she hugged me. The rest of the gang that came asked me how I was doing and everything. Everyone left but shayne decided to stay, that was nice I guess I didn't want to be alone right now. 

A couple hours later we were both asleep, shayne on the couch, when the nurse came and woke us up telling us we could leave whenever we were ready. I was more excited  than anything. We finally got to go home, well back to the hotel. 

(I kinda accidentally switched to courts pov  in the last paragraph so its in her pov now)

We got back and it was pretty early so no one was awake then shayne realised that we left the rental car at the beach so we decided to walk there. "Hey I know we came to get the car but can we take a walk?" "Uh yeah sure" i said. It was a quiet walk for awhile when I spoke up.

 "remember when you said you had something important to tell me?what was it" it was quiet for awhile.. no one on the beach then he spoke up "uh yeah I did." He started "Courtney you know you mean a lot to me, right?" "Aw shayne you do too" "when you were drowning and wouldn't wake up courtney it scared me more than you know, right?" I start to tear up, dang emotions suck "aw shayne hey I'm right here no need to worry" "yeah I know but there was another reason to why it did " "shayne you're making me nervous what going on?" "Okay I'll just say it... courtney I'm in love with you and seeing you hurt like that, court I couldn't lose you" "y-you love me? Shayne I -I-" he cut me off "its okay if you don't like me back we can be friends i just needed to get that off my chest and-" I cut him off with a kiss.. I kissed Shayne freakin Topp. Wow
