Wow, this chapter took quite long to write. By the time you get this, I would've posted this and chapter 4 already. This chapter was extra long. This chapter has over 12k words in it, and it was certainly draining for the most part. It has been weeks upon weeks of writing for me to even complete these two chapters intended.
Anyway, here's chapter 5.
——
The two of us stood there silently.
"Did you hear everything? Or was it just a coincidence?" She suddenly asked, breaking the thin ice that the two were just standing on a moment or two earlier ago.
"Somewhat. You can call it a half-coincidence. I saw you while I was getting juice from the vending machine and saw you go out. I was quite curious, and followed you out here. Though I didn't really mean to meddle in your business."
Elder Horikita is quite the important figure amongst the 3rd years and even amongst the whole school. He must know a few things about the other years that the first-years have no knowledge of.
"You really do love poking your head and nose into trouble. Then you complain about things being 'troublesome'. Do you really dislike trouble?"
She's questioning me. It seems the words Chabashira-sensei told her has already invaded her mind to the fullest amount.
But, I've also been asking myself that same question. Do I really dislike trouble? If I may pose the truth, I'm indifferent and neutral when it comes to it.
I don't like it.
I don't hate it.
"I have no reason to answer that question." I learned my lesson when it comes to people like Horikita. You feed them what they want, they'll continue wanting you to feed you.
In Horikita's case — It's information.
But to be more specific, it's information about my past and who I am. To think Chabashira-sensei could make someone like Horikita rethink on who I am is quite annoying.
Horikita only needs to know the person who I am on the surface, and not the one deep within. I then thought of driving the conversation away from the current topic.
"Your brother is quite strong," I told her. Horikita just nodded slightly.
"He's ranked fifth dan in karate and fourth dan in aikido." Ah, so he learned those types of martial arts. His strength was most definitely proof of his proficiency in the arts of combat.
If I hadn't reacted quick enough, I would be taking Horikita's place on the concrete ground. She looked at me questionably.
"You also study martial arts, don't you, Ayanokouji-kun? What rank do you hold?" Ah, even more weird questions. And I'm petty sure I already answered that question from the elder Horikita.
"I thought I already told you — just piano and tea ceremony." I soon realized my mistake from Horikita's gaze. I just learned. . . One too many things, alright?
"You said calligraphy before," said Horikita.
"I. . . did calligraphy in addition to those, yes." Horikita narrowed her eyes at me with much suspicion. It seems she does not believe the words that I just told her.
