~~Zailan's point of view~~
I have owned the orphanage for sixteen years. I have NEVER had a child affect me like Raynebow. I admit I don't go there as often as I should. I have never been to one of the carnivals. I just leave money for Audra and move on. It's not that I don't work at all. The work I do with both of my companies I can do from home, so I work from there.
I feel the need to go to the carnival today. I don't know why I feel that I just have to. I get up, shower, and head downstairs. I grab my phone and my wallet and throw them in the waterproof case. I don't even let anyone know I am coming. That probably should have happened before I left. Too late now.
I get to my car and head towards the fairgrounds. When I get there, I can't believe my eyes. They do an incredible job.
(Imagine this during the day.)
I walk through the gate. The girl running the gate knows who I am; her eyes about pop out of her head. I knew people would be shocked that I came. I am shocked that I came. I came for one reason. Raynebow. Hell, she may not even be here. If they get sick or something, they can't come. I probably should have made that call.
I walk around for a bit. I'm here and know my "family" is too. I will run into one of them eventually. I take a deep breath inhaling the smell of the fried goodness that is sold at a carnival. I stop and talk to some of my employees. I was standing at one of the game counters talking to one of the kids when I feel something wrap around my leg. I look down and see Raynebow.
Zailan: "Hello Raynebow."
Raynebow: "Hi."
I see Rob coming at me.
Rob: "Holy shit. You came..."
Zailan: "Yeah, I did."
I bend down and pick up Raynebow.
Rob: "She screamed and took off on me. She saw you from across the park."
Zailan: "She's fine."
She is the reason I came.
Rob: "Breeze and I are supposed to be watching her today."
Zailan: "I have her today."
Rob: "Are you sure?"
Zailan: "Yes. Go help Breeze before she calls you."
Rob: "Just a heads up, she won't ride anything."
Zailan: "Ok."
We walk around for a bit. Neither of us speaks, and she doesn't ask to be put down. I should have asked if she was allergic to anything. I am probably going to have to feed her at some point. I hear her giggle.
