There's a natural law of karma that vindictive people, who go out of their way to hurt others, will end up broke and alone. ~Sylvester Stallone

Luke’s POV

Yeah, I was nervous. I could say that, right? I was going to Michael Clifford’s locker after school when really, I should have just went and seen Kody. However, I swallowed my fear and stood at our lockers. Bouncing slightly as it looked like I was in my own.

“Hi Luke.” Michael said, I looked at him but he was not even glancing my way. So I turned my head back down. “I said hi. I know your mad at me but the least you could do is say ‘hi’ back. Or did Kody take away your manners?”

“No, Kody likes that i have manners.” I shrugged and turned back to Michael. “So, you wanted to talk?”

“Not now, you’ll have to wait until the school clears out a bit, that okay?” Michael asked. I nodded my head and just stood at my locker next to Michael until the entire hall was empty. Michael then turned to me, glancing at me he spoke. “I know you don’t like me.”

“I - ”

“Please Luke, let me finish.” Michael said so I gestured for him to continue talking. “Thank you. Anyways, I know you don’t like me but there has to be some part of you that believes in the fact that Kody is no good for you.” Michael sighed with a pause he continued. “He hurt you, that’s never okay.”

“I know Michael..”

“No you don’t.” Michael said. “Because in your mind Kody isn’t the bad guy. If he was you would have blamed him, not me for what happened. But instead you like to sit Kody up on a pedestal and call him your king. And he doesn’t even treat you like anything more then a dirty peasant.”

“No one asked you the be the voice of reason.” I snapped while glaring at Michael.

“See, there you go. Doing it again. Sitting Kody up on his throne while you take all of the damage for him.” Michael shook his head slowly. “I know you don’t like me, but I’m right. Whether you see it or not Luke. I’m trying to help you.”

“All it does though is get me in trouble.” I sighed. “Don’t you even consider that as well?”

“I do consider it, but I’m just trying to get you to open your eyes. Your not even with Kody so he shouldn’t be allowed to put you through such torment.” Michael said, placing his hands on his waist. “You should trust me, I know what I’m talking about..”

“What do you know?” I snapped, instantly regretting the harshness of my words when I saw Michael’s eyes glaze over.

“I-I know..” Michael said quietly. His arms folded across his chest as he glanced to the side. I just looked at him with a sympathetic glance the entire time. Wondering what had happened. I didn’t really know Michael. All I knew is that he transferred schools a couple years ago and was really good friends with Ashton and Calum. For a while I thought all he knew was that I was good friends with people like Kody, Skarlet and Barbie. But it almost seemed like he knew more then that, and I was wondering how, maybe even why. I sure as hell did not associate with anyone else, so why would Michael be so much different? All of the thoughts that were running through my noggin was almost..Painful. To say the least.

“Michael,” I spoke quietly and he lifted his eyes to me. “I am sorry that I’m, kinda a jerk to you. It was wrong of me. I hope you know that.”

“Luke you’re - ”

“Luke!?” I froze in my spot when I heard Kody’s voice behind me.

“Not again.” Michael sighed and I looked at him before turning around to see my entire group of friends walking towards us. Kody was in the front, and it was moments like this where I could see who he really was. I could see the monstrosity that he was.

“Kody calm down!” Karla yelled as she chased after him. She grabbed his arm and tried pulling him back but he shook her off, making her land straight on her bottom. Axel was the first to stop and help her back up.

“Are you an idiot!?” Kody snapped when he reached me. “You’re coming with me right now.”

“Leave him alone.” Michael snapped back and Kody looked to him with wide eyes.

“Excuse me?” Kody asked.

“You heard me.” Michael replied. Kody pushed me to the side so he could stand face to face with Michael. If I was placing bets I would say Kody would punch him in the face, right there.

But I would have lost that bet.

“Kody leave them all alone!” Sammy stepped forward between the two boys, Kody was just as shocked as anyone else. Quiet little Sammy, standing up to the big bad wolf that was Kody. “Alright? Everyone is sick of you treating Luke like an item when he is so much more than that! He’s not a toy, you don’t get to just mess around with him and Lynn at the same time! He is a human being and you need to treat him like one! Hell, he’s better off with Michael anyways!”

Kody stood in silence as a clearly angry Sammy stood in front of him. His glare was deadly, and I never really saw an angry Sammy like this. I looked around. Seeing everyone was in shock.

I heard Skarlet mumble, “Dammit Sammy..You idiot..”

“What did you just say to me?” Kody snarled.

“Oh you’re nothing but a jerk who feels the need to get his way every time.” Sammy snarled. “You’re nothing and you need to realize that you are the most pathetic human being in existence.”

“How dare you..” Kody said. “Do you not remember all the things I’ve done for you?”

“They mean nothing.” Sammy said, his voice like ice.

And now, if I was betting I would have lost a second time. Because I swore that Kody would swing and punch Sammy straight in the face. But no, that wasn’t the case either. Instead, Sammy slammed his fist against Kody’s face. Knocking him off to the side as Sammy gripped his hand.
“Idiot..” Kody snarled and shoved Sammy against the lockers.

Now it was my turn to be the exact same thing. Because I ran up to Kody and pulled him back.

“Don’t hit him!” I said. “Please, we can leave if you want. Just don’t hit Sammy. It’s Sammy.”

“And you..” Kody said, narrowing his eyes at me. I took a few steps back, looking at everyone - even Lynn was shocked. “I am sick of you acting like you’re tough.”

“Kody, watch yourself..” Barbie said.

“I am sick of a lot of things about you.” Kody said. “And I am done dealing with it.”

At this point my bet would have been correct. For if I gambled that Kody was totally insane, I would have been right. His large hand around my neck as I was pushed against the locker. And he squeezed until I passed out. Hearing screaming all around.
