______________Ashton had been ignoring Luke all week. Ever since the incident. So far there were a few missed calls and about 20 messages asking if he's ok.
He sighed and put his phone down before staring off into space. The library empty again. But he loved the silence. It was comfortable not lonely. Sometimes he hated the silence tho. That's why he had music. Which was now blasting the silky voice of Kellin Quinn into his ears.
He nodded to his head to the music constantly checking the wrong spelling and mistakes from the other librarians. There was Jake, he was almost always late. Also Kelsey, who worked behind the counter too but she was off for the day. Lastly there was Kevin, he was a sweet kid who worked mostly the afternoon shift. There's not always old people working in libraries although this one is owned my an old woman.
It's not always very busy at the library, maybe that was why Ashton chose the job, it was mostly quiet. Or maybe it's the fact that the pay is good. Either way he wouldn't give up his job for anything else.
His phone dinged and he checked it. He sighed seeing the name 'Luke' flash across his screen.
Luke- hey, just checking if your ok. Haven't heard from you in a while. Text when you can.
He sighed and pulled out his headphones and set his phone down.
He continued doing his work until he heard the door opening and shutting.
He assumed it was Jake so he spoke jokingly, "Late again are we? What's the excuse this time?""Uh hi Ashton." A deep voice spoke. That voice belonged not to Jake but to the one and only Luke Hemmings.
He dropped his pen and looked up. The boy stood there looking as stunning as ever. Blonde hair quiffed up. Dark ripped clothing. Eagerness swimming through his eyes. A few bracelets and wrist bands around his wrist. His hand held onto a small blue book and a pen. A dopey smile played across his bubblegum pink lips.
"Oh hi Luke." Act normal Ashton. He thought to himself. "How did you know where I worked?" He asked a little confused.
"Maybe you shouldn't put so much information on Facebook, Irwin." He smiled. "Haven't heard from you. What's up?" He asked cooly. He leaned agains the counter.
"Oh my phone is... Broken." He lied. He winced at his terrible lying skills as his phone dinged. Cover blown you idiot. He scolded himself.
"Mmmm makes sense." Luke teased taking his phone. "Here are all of my messages. And someone named Laura said that she's cooking so don't bring any hay.... Whatever that means." He chuckled giving back the phone."Uhm I swear it wasn't working-"
"Dude quit lying. It's ok. You can tell me your excuse during coffee." He smoothly said."I get off... 7 minutes ago. My workmate isn't here yet. You can wait over there if you like." Ashton said motioning over to piles of colorful beanbags. He shrugged an walked on over to them, and he plopped down in the green one putting his book in his lap and flipping to a page. While he did that Ashton tended to a few people who had walked in after Luke.
Suddenly the door flew open and a panicking and panting Jake ran in.
"Ash I'm sorry I'm late I had to run here! Car. Out. Of. Gas." He huffed looking like he was about to fall."Uhm it's ok I guess." Ashton laughed. He shrugged gathering his things.
"Kevin has food poisoning. Kelsey is of for the day. Don't screw up anything." Ashton pointed an accusing finger at him as he held his hands up in false surrender.
"See ya Ash." He waved continuing whatever Ashton left off.
-bloody awesome time lapse-
The chatter of people around was kept at a low at the café that Luke took him to. He's never been here before but it looked quite cozy.
"May I take your order?" The chirpy blonde greeted. Ashton knew this blonde.
"Hi Perrie. Didn't know you worked here?" He furrowed his eyebrows.
"Hey Ashton. Didn't know you knew Luke." She replied already filling two cups with liquids."Here Luke, your usual and here ash, I know you love hot chocolate." She rolled her eyes.
"That'll be $4." She spoke. Ash was already pulling out money when Luke paid for both their drinks.
"Oh. Here Luke." He smiled handing Luke his half only to have it pushed back."It's in me silly." Luke chuckled pulling him to a seat.
"Now tell me all about your phone." Luke said putting an interested face on."Uhm... I dropped it and.... Now it won't send messages..." He lied making it up as he went along.
"An I was uhh... Supposed to get it fixed today but... Yeah." He stammered."Mhm. You should really get it fixed then." Replied Luke.
"Anyway enough about me. Why were you stalking me in social media?" Ashton's amused expression matched his voice as he spoke."Was bored. My girlfriend is gone for a week. Parent are out. I don't have to babysit my cousin so why not." He's shrugged sipping his drink.
"So your saying that I was you last option." Ashton looked at him with a false hurt expression.
"Kinda." Luke joked.Suddenly Ashton's phone began to blast Gives You Hell by All-American Rejects.
He instantly knew it was Laura.
"Hiya Laura." He greeted gigglingly.
"A-ash." She stuttered.
"Laur what's wrong?" He began already getting worried.
"There's a lot of blood."
