Sasuke

Listening to the calming voice of my crush on the other side of the door shocked me. He left five minutes ago, why is he still here?

"Look, old man, go somewhere with better reception, won't you?" he said, irritated.

I look through the peephole to see him standing with one hand on the somewhat rusted gate, a phone near his ear.

His voice was distant but still clear to me, "Finally, when you come back, you better learn how to use a phone properly," he said, two-finger massaging his forehead from stress.

He was probably talking to his father. Should I be eavesdropping? It feels wrong like I'm intruding.

I guess I better leave. I bring my eyes away from the small hole in the door and turn around before I hear something else,

"Of course I didn't tell him about that," that made me freeze in my tracks. Was he talking about me?

I look back at the entryway. It wouldn't hurt anyone to eavesdrop, now would it? I slowly but silently creep across the wooden floor, hoping that it wouldn't creak.

I keep my ear pressed up against the cold, dark, wood trying to listen for even the slightest of noises from the outside.

"I'm not that much of an idiot. He would've figured it out if I told him that," he said in a way as if he was stating the obvious. While he began pacing back and forth in front of the house.

The emotion on his face changed to a mixture of annoyance and anger, "OH YEAH? WHO ELSE HAS BLUE EYES AND BLONDE HAIR IN TOWN EXCEPT FOR ME AND DAD, HUH? RIDDLE ME THAT MOTHERF-"

He went silent as the person over the phone, who was barely audible, started yelling in an angry voice, something about the language he was using.

"S-Sorry," he said, in a somewhat apologetic tone. He then continued talking, "Look, I'm not gonna tell him. It'll too obvious," he sighed,

Maybe it's time I leave, there was no point listening to this. It was just a normal, conversation by the looks of it.

I remove my ear from the door and take a step back before I heard one last thing,

"Of course, we already knew what Orochimaru told me. I'm not going to report anything else to Sasuke," that stopped me. I turned around to the door and quickly kept my eye near the hole in the door to see Naruto no longer there.

I look away from the peephole and keep my back against the door and slide down, so I was sitting, with my back against the door.

Realizing how stiff my shoulders were, I relaxed them. I lean my head back against the cold hardwood of the door. So Naruto's keeping something from me, that's just great, but what is he keeping from me?

I get up quickly, and grab a sheet of paper off the dining table and grab the pencil next to the stack of papers. I start jotting down everything I heard from the conversation.

I hear the door open and quickly finish up the last sentence, and shoved the flimsy paper in the pocket of my basketball shorts.

I see the blonde boy walk into the room, "I'm back!" he exclaimed enthusiastically, waving the toothbrush in his hand.

I have to act like I didn't hear anything from before, "Bathroom is upstairs," I tell him, he nods with a smile on his face and runs up the stairs.

I rest my head on the table, I had two options. The first was to confront him, and my second was to get more information about what we were talking about.

After contemplating for about five minutes about my two options, I hear a rhythmic pattern of steps coming down the floor.

I see Naruto skip into my field of vision, "I'm done!" he exclaimed, with a big grin showing his bright white teeth. I realize I was involuntarily softly smiling at him, stupid crush. I stop smiling and get up,

"Um, Sasuke?" he asked me, the tone of his voice was suspicious. Is he fessing up? I look at him instantly,

He looked at me startled, "You've never shown this much interest in our conversations before," he said, taking a step back,

I guess I'm being too obvious, "Anyways," he continued, "I need to get home, can I have a ride?" he asked me. That wasn't what I was expecting.

"Sure," I say nonchalantly, he nods and walks to the door, and starts putting on his shoes while standing up without any support.

So, he was just jumping around trying to put his shoes on. I facepalm myself, "Just sit down and- ARGH" While I was talking, Naruto bumped into me and sent us both falling.

I massage the back of my head where I hit it against the floor, "Ow, dammit Naruto, just sit down next time you-" I realize there was a weight on the rest of my body,

I look down to see Naruto lying on top of me. He looks up at me, "Hehe, sorry," he said in a sorry tone,

I blush. The amount of space between our faces was far too small, "Just get off me," I order him, He gave me a confused look before looking around and realizing the position we were in.

He turned a deep shade of red before getting off me, "O-Oh, sorry," he stuttered. I nod and open the door, "You coming?" I say without glancing at him.

I overhear him get up, and I walk out of the door, keys in hand. Naruto, who was still at the door, walked quickly to catch up with my pace.

I reached my car and unlocked it, getting into the driver's seat, Naruto getting in a second later.

I started driving to his house, "Already memorized by house address I see," Naruto notices, I didn't realize it myself.

"Do you want a ride or not?" I ask him coldly, "Don't be afraid to admit you love me," he said, in a seductive manner,

I roll my eyes, "In your dreams," I say, "Then, let's make dreams become reality," he said, "Are you asking me out, Naru?" I retaliate, causing his face to turn red.

"N-NO!" he yelled, trying to cover his face ineffectively. I could have spent more time making fun of him and watching him get flustered in his own unique and cute way, but alas, we were at his house.

I park the car in front of the apartment and get out. I see Naruto prancing up the stairs, and I quickly walk after him to catch up with him.

I see him arrive at his door by the time I made my way up the stairs. He takes the keys out of his pocket and unlocks the door using the one that was smaller than the other three.

He unlocked the door and walked in, me following him close behind him. We walk in, and it was almost the same as before,

"You did not get more ramen," I say, disgusted, looking at the pile of ramen, with more bright yellow and red ramen packets than it had last time I had come here.

He looked at me with a smug look on his face, "I did," he stated without faltering. I sigh, wondering how he could only survive on that.

"Hey, Naruto,"

"Hm?"

"Where are your parents? They weren't here last time I came. I just wanted to meet them." I explained,

Naruto stared at me. With no answer. He seemed out of it, "Naruto? Are you okay?" I ask him while approaching him. He was staring at me, no emotion on his face.

When I get closer to his face, I realized that he had tears streaming down his face.
