You knew Donald had a hard time being with people intimately. From his traumatic childhood, to know where he craved power, Donald never really had anyone to spend lots of time with alone, not necessarily romantically but more of a closer bond than an ally.
Valentines was approaching and you decided that you would take the lead for the holiday. You had started saving money and prepping everything as soon as February began.
You cleaned and tidied around your apartment before hopping into your shower and prepping yourself. You wore a well put together outfit and sprayed your favorite fragrance onto your skin.
You looked absolutely ethereal.
Your mouth hung in amazement at your own reflection. "Wow." Jumping in excitement. You quickly made your way to your closet where you had carefully stored Donald's gift. It wasn't grand, but you thought it would be better than nothing.
"Should I get him flowers?" Mumbling careless thoughts to yourself, you put on your finishing touches and stepped out of your apartment.
Shivering a bit from the wind, you stepped back inside to snag your coat which you had bought especially so it would match your outfit if you needed it. Smart thinking.
You hailed a taxi and cradled your gift close as the driver made his way downtown where Donald's building was.
"Thank you so so much!" You tipped the driver extra and thanked him once more.
"Whoever you dressed up fancy for better treat you right, no need to break a pretty persons heart." The older driver spoke. "I remember getting all dressed up every single year for my wife on Valentines. I'll see you off. Happy Valentine's Day!"
You waved as the driver made his way off and turned warily to face the scary building in front of you.
"You can do this." You sighed to yourself. Making your way into the first floor of the office building you nodded at the attendant who opened the door for you.
Quickly getting into the elevator, your legs wobbled as Donald's flor grew nearer.
The doors opened with a loud clunk and you starred at the long hall in front of you.
You gulped and shakily stepped off of the elevator floor.
Making your way to the large door with Donald's initials on it, you rapped three times on the wood.
Hearing a soft clicking sound of shoes behind you, you turned your head and saw Kingsley approaching you. "Ah, (L/N), are you here for Donald?" A small yes made its way out of your mouth and you nodded as Kingsley reached forward to open the door for you.
"Thank you. And Kingsley, you can call me (Y/N)!" You smiled and patted Kingsley's hand in reassurance.
"Well, (Y/N), Donald should be doing some work, and Happy Valentines Day to you." Kingsley face a warm smile as he turned and walked back down the hallway and waited for the elevator doors to open.
You walked into Donald's office and gently clicked the door shut.
"You're back already Kingsley?" You placed Donald's gift onto the coffee table in between the two couches in the middle of the office area.
"It's me." Your heart leaped into your throat as you glided over to Donald.
You heard Donald sigh and place his pen down. Nervously fiddling your fingers, you waited for Donald to turn his attention to you.
You grew too uneasy and impatient so you placed your hands on Donald's shoulder and leaned forward, placing your face against Donald's nape.
Sliding your hands lower, you gently squeezed Donald's upper arms, his defined muscles pressing against the palms of your hands.
Your hands glided against Donald's arms and they came to a halt as your took his hands into yours.
You moved your face and placed your head in the crook of Donald's neck. You kissed Donald's collarbone gently and took in his scent. He smelt of cologne and strangely, paper.
You sighed gently, still not hearing anything from Donald. "Sweetheart?" You perked up hearing a grunt from Donald in response.
You moved your hands away from his and wrapped your arms around his front, not caring if the office chair dug into your chest. "Donald." You whined, you were impatient and annoyed.
"Baby." You dug the pads of your fingers into Donald's arms and pouted against Donald's neck.
You huffed and detached from Donald.
Turning on your heel you made your way back across the room. "Your gift is on the coffee table." Opening the door you gave a last glance over your shoulder and stepped out into the hall once again.
"(Y/N)." Feeling your heart keep into your throat.
Giddily you turned your head around to see a frowning Donald.
You closed the door and approached Donald. "Oh no, baby tell me, what's wrong?" You cupped Donald's cheeks and gazed into his eyes. He wasn't much for emotion but you at least wanted him to tell you what was up.
Feeling a lump form in your throat you hugged Donald close to you, cradling his head in your chest.
Feeling Donald's arms wrap around your waist in return for the hug, you felt hot tears drip down your cheeks. You knew.
You squeezed him tighter and moved your head to top of Donald's face. You placed gentle kisses on his forehead and rubbed his back while he just sat there in your embrace.
"Donald, I love you." You moved your face and looked at Donald's face, his nose was red and the rims of his eyes were slightly pink. You kissed Donald softly and hugged him once more.
"I love you too, (Y/N)" Donald murmured his words of love into the crook of your neck and your played with his hair, letting him relax and feel safe in your embrace.
Although it wasn't a perfect Valentine's Day, it made you feel loved that Donald would let you be there for him. You knew he wasn't one for affections but it was enough for him to even hug you back, and that was all you needed from him.
After all, you loved him with all of your heart.
