Arabella
I remained stuck to the ground. I couldn't move.
Did I just hang up on him?
I chuckled, yes I did.
Then I realized, I really did, the smile disappearing on my face. I feel the blood drain on my face.
Oh my god, I am so fired...
I shook my head, no. I have to stand my ground. I did nothing wrong. Did he honestly expect the child to grow in the four corners of his house? That is not a way for a child to grow up. What kind of childhood is that?
"We are in big trouble, sí? I knew I shouldn't have listened to you," Antonio said in a whisper in front of me, interrupting my thoughts.
I look up at him and said, "this is all on me. Besides, look at the smile on Lia's face," I said pointing to Lia, who is now sitting on the bench in front me. "She has enjoyed herself and it's worth it," I added.
It is definitely worth it, to suffer the wrath of Massimo. He was so upset, he was growling and yelling, I swear, it felt like he was literally eating my ear off.
I have a feeling he's on his way home, to bestow his wrath upon me. I chuckled, and Antonio, looked at me with question in his eyes.
"We should get home," I said to him.
"Hey baby, let's go home okay?" I said to Lia. She looked disappointed.
While frowning she asked, "why can't we stays longer?"
She looked so cute, pouting. I almost give in, but I'm sure Massimo is on his way home, and if I want to make it home before he does, then we definitely have to go home.
"We'll try to come back some other time baby, okay? Besides, I thought you and I are going to bake cookies together," I said. Her face immediately lights up, and she bobs her head up and down, jumping off the bench... walking towards me to grab my hand, tugging me towards the car.
"Let's go Ara!" She said enthusiastically, while tugging me along with her.
I laughed, "slow down mia angioletto."
She simply giggled in response. I happily followed her back to the car.
When we got home, Massimo's car was already there...so much for getting home before he does. I shivered, but I reminded myself to stand my ground.
I feel my legs shaking.
"Daddy's here," Lia said, jumping up and down her seat.
"Woah, careful baby," I said smiling at her. "Hold on okay. Let met you out of your car seat first," I said, unbuckling her.
Suddenly, the car door to my side opens.
"Let me go out first, baby," I said to Lia.
"Okays," she said happily.
Massimo's driver was standing beside the door, holding it open to me. His eyes were dancing with humour.
What the hell was so funny? I wondered.
"Alright, let's go baby," I said, helping Lia out of the car.
The front door bursts open, and standing there was Massimo, looking angry. He's glaring at me, and I feel my legs shake, at the hard look he's giving me.
"Daddy, daddy," Lia said delighted at seeing her father. She is oblivious to the fact that his father, was so angry, he could shatter a glass, with his stare.
