Chapter 1 - New Member

24 years ago ......

"Emily, what are you worried about. I love you and that all that matters" shouted Aaron as he started growing more and more annoyed. "You don't know her like I do Aaron, she will ruin your career" Emily was over the arguing, she cared for Aaron and knew his career was also going to come first in their relationship "Emily please, I love you, your mother isn't going to take that away from us. You can't just break up with me over something like this."

"But I can, and I will Aaron, I love you too okay, but I can't let this happen. Please Aaron just leave, please." Tears stream down both the lovers faces; this will also haunt the pairs for years to come.

7 years ago ......

"Aaron!" Emily was surprised to see her ex-boyfriend in the office where the boss should be. 'shit no he can't be the boss, can he. I honestly shouldn't be surprised; I always knew he would do great things' Emily thought to herself. "Emily! What are you doing here you can't be here"?

"Um I'm the new team member Aaron"

"Close the door and sit please" Emily did as she was told, she was nervous, nervous about things that were left unsaid and the thing that she never told Aaron about.

"Look I'm sorry but I didn't know about a new member but um I guess you are welcome here; I'll get something sorted for your desk but um Emily if you are to be working here and with my team. They um ... they can't know about our past at all please Emily. And its Hotch, Hotchner or sir please Aaron is too unprofessional" Emily understood where he was coming from, she didn't want old feelings and secrets to come up.

"Hotch" she smiled and remembered coming up with the name when he was on her detail.

"Trust me when I say that I don't want anyone knowing what happened back then, it's all in the past for me. So why don't we start over. Hi, I'm agent Emily Prentiss I just got transferred from out south west." She smiled

"Hi, Aaron Hotchner unit chief"

Present day ......

"Emily" Hotch called nodding towards his office. She takes note and started making her way to his office. "Hey Em, I just wanted to ask you could show around the new agent when she gets here. I think her name is Charlotte Burton and if I remember correctly Strauss said she was only in her early 20s" Aaron said taking a sit around his desk, over the years Emily and Aaron have been growing closer, this scared Emily of course. Both now call each other pet names such as Em, Emily rather than Prentiss or agent. Hotch or Aaron were Emily's favourites to use. "Um yeah I guess, that pretty young for the BAU is she some genius I should know about?"

"Not that I know of but thank you she should be here soon and then I have some paper for her after that she is all yours"

About an hour past till a young black hair brown eyed woman walked into the BAU, she looked lost but confident. Emily at first was too busy with her paperwork to notice the young agent, that was until she heard Morgan "Hey pretty lady, are you lost?" the young agent was quick to respond "no but thank you, I'm just taking it all in. I'm Charlotte Burton" the accent of Charlotte's caught Emily's attention, British. Aaron didn't say anything about her being British. Emily finally looked up to the young agent and what she saw scared her to pieces 'no it can't be' she thought. "Hahaha look Em in a kinda not scary way pretty girl here looks like a mix between u and boss man" Morgan shouted; this get Hotch's attention but didn't comment at Morgan directing his attention toward Charlotte. "Good you must be Charlotte Burton if you don't mind please follow me."

Emily quicky rushed to the bathroom after Charlotte left with Aaron, she couldn't breathe what Morgan had said was true she was the perfect mix between Aaron and Emily. Almost as perfect as the little girl she held 23 years ago before she kissed her goodbye.

Emily POV

Holy shit, why me universe? Ok Emily think for a minute just because she has your nose black hair, Aaron's chocolate eyes and smile doesn't means she is your daughter that you had with Aaron but he doesn't know about. Ok omg no she can't be. I gave her up in America and she has a British accent, stupid that doesn't mean anything.

I splash some walk over my face as JJ walks into tell me the Hotch is looking for me, "I don't know Em something about a new agent and showing her around" I smile and nod, not trusting my voice.

"Oh, Em there you are, Charlotte this is Agent Emily Prentiss. Hey Em, are you still all good to show Agent Burton around?" Hotch said.

"Oh, sorry where are my manners. Hi Agent Prentiss or Emily I don't mind. Um yep let's get started" Emily smiled at the young girl who was standing awkwardly in front of her.

"Hi please call me Charlotte and can I just say it's a huge honour working with you, you are a legend in the behavioural analysis department"

'ok Em get yourself together, she doesn't know who you are and plus she might just look like you and Aaron but that doesn't mean she is your Isabella' Emily thought to herself before snapping out of it and starting the tour around the unit with Charlotte.

"So, this is Agent Jareau's offices she is the communications liaison, um let me see if she's not busy" Emily was nervous so couldn't get out of her head. "Hey JJ, do u have a sec?" Emily asked as her and Charlotte stepped into the office. "Oh, hi there Em, of course I have a sec. OMG is this the new agent. Hi, I'm Agent Jennifer Jareau but you can call me JJ."

"Charlotte" the young girl returned with a smile, it was clear that she was nervous, but in the minute, something caught her eye. "Hey um Agent Jareau do you mind if I?" she asked gesturing towards the case files "JJ and sure."

While Charlotte was looking over a case file JJ had turned her attention to Emily who was just smiling at Charlotte, but JJ thought nothing of it. "So, Em how's the whole Hotchniss thing going. He has been calling you Em a lot more lately and don't even start on trying to avoid this"

"JJ stop it seriously it's nothing"

"No no and no it's something alright, there been something for 7 years, why haven't you two just admitted it yet?"

"Because JJ it's complicated, there is history and things that I've kept from him that I don't want to bring up, so please can you and pen just drop it" by this time Charlotte had put down the case file and turned her attention to the conversation between the two agents and releasing that the pair will be at it for a while she decided to clear her throat to remain them of her presents.

"OMG lol sorry Charlotte, let's get you to your desk because I think JJ here has a case" the women just nodded and smiled at one another as Charlotte and Emily exited the room.

"Hey, Agent Prentiss?"

"Please Charlotte calls me Emily"

"Emily ... Thank you" just like that Emily showed Charlotte her desk and the day went on with the first case in Charlotte's career being presented.
