Chapter 5 - Emily Prentiss and Aaron Hotchner

"Aaron what?"

"I'm serious Emily, I was already planning on asking you anyway and have been carry this ring everywhere but now we have a daughter together, a daughter that we get to work with every day. Emily I'm sorry about everything I said to you after the miscarriage. I love you. I've spent 24 years loving you and only you, please, Emilia Clementine Prentiss, will you marry me?" Aaron asked getting off the couch and pulling out the ring, final hopping onto one knee in front of Emily waiting for her answer.

"YES" 'holy shit' was all Emily could think about, she thought Aaron would hate her and never speak to her again let alone ask her to marry him.

"Hey Em?"

"Yea"

"Maybe I think it's time to have that talk about the miscarriage and everything that was said because this needs to be talked about before we go any further"

This is not what she had expected to talk about just after getting engaged but he was right, very hurtful things were said in that week but the main thing that has always haunted Emily was when Aaron accused Emily of actually getting an abortion and she was lying about miscarrying which was wrong. So, Emily just nodded because she didn't want to start this conversation at all.

"I'm sorry, that I accused you of getting an abortion. It was rude and hurtful but Em you get to understand my viewpoint. You didn't want our first baby so why would you want our second one."

"Are you kidding me, Aaron I cried over the miscarriage for over a month, I didn't sleep or eat, I just cried. I pushed everyone away JJ, Morgan and you hated me because you couldn't understand that I wanted that baby more than anything in the world, it was my second chance. My second chance to be a mum something I missed out on with Charlotte. So are you really sorry because you still believe that I 'got an abortion instead of having a miscarriage' you know what Aaron, Fuck you and go to hell" was the last thing Emily shouted at Hotch before leaving the office and making her way to the car.

- At the Hotel -

Emily and Aaron were meant to share a room, JJ and Charlotte, Reid, Morgan and Rossi. But after her fight with Aaron, she didn't want to be anywhere near him, so she packed up her clothes and toiletries and headed for JJ and Charlotte's room. She didn't want her daughter to see her upset over something so silly considering Aaron and Emily didn't talk for 6 months because of their last fight over the miscarriage.

Emily had made it to JJ and Charlotte's room only knocking lightly before the door opened to reveal JJ in her PJ's. JJ knew something was wrong as soon as she saw Emily face, it was red and puffy with tear strains and makeup everywhere. All JJ asked was "Hotch and Miscarriage?" JJ was the only member in the team that knew about Emily's miscarriage, purely because she was there for that month of hell. Emily just nodded, walking into the room her suitcase following suit. "Where is Charlotte" Emily asked when she couldn't see the young girl. "Oh, um she is in the shower, something about needing to relax after a long day. I don't know"

"So, Em do you want to talk about it or just shower, movie and cuddle?"

'I don't understand him JJ one minute we are happy and talking the past, then he asked me to marry him and of course I said yes we have a daughter together and have loved each other for 24 years. Then he brings up the miscarriage and asked me to see it from is POV and I just can't' Emily thought about just telling JJ everything, but she didn't. so, instead Emily just climbed into bed with JJ and put on an old horror movie.

"Ok, I'm here if you need anything" both Emily and Jj hadn't notice Charlotte exit the bathroom, to engaged in the movie both laughing because of how ridiculous the movie affects were.

Charlotte had taken notice of the ring that now laid on Emily's finger that wasn't there before and the tear stains down her face. She decided to ignore it all and climbed into bed trying to fall asleep to the laughs of her mother and bestfriend. That was until Emily started talking.

"I just don't understand him JJ"

"Come on Emily, you and Hotch have been together for almost 7 years now minus the 6 months you both didn't talk to each other cause of the miscarriage. And don't think I didn't notice the ring Emily. If you didn't really love him, you would have said no." the pair continued to talk but Charlotte could listen anymore.

Charlotte POV

'Come on Emily you and Hotch have been together for almost 7 years now minus the 6 months you both didn't talk to each other cause of the miscarriage' was all that Charlotte could think about. She remembers Emily saying that her and her birthfather were together 5 years ago 'as for your father I was actually going to tell him 5 years ago, we were happy and together'

OMG Hotch is my father. Before Charlotte could think she sat up on her bed and spoke

"Aaron Hotchner is my father?" Charlotte made eye contact with Emily, then she released what she had just said in front of JJ.

"I'm sorry, what?" was all JJ said.
