When I'm finally at school, I see Chris sitting in the auditorium next to Erudite boy, I think his name is Will. I walk over to them...

Flirting with each other! Like legit flirting!

This is going to be a long day.

"Hey Trissy! We saved you a spot!" She says overly excited.

I sit down, and ask "Soo what you guys planing to choose?"

"Umm Dauntless... No offense to my fam but Candor is too much for me." Chris says

"Same here! How about you... Tris?" Will says.

Me personally could choose, Erudite, Abnegation, or of corse

"Dauntless." I answer and they look at me dumbfounded, only one other Abnegation member has joined dauntless in ages, and that is Tobias.

"Really? Like Really Really? The stiff who has never talked back in her life, has never differed from the crowd, Dauntless? Wow!" Will says as me and Chris shoot him a glare, and he shrinks back a bit.

"Listen to me- "

-me with Chris, Tris and will explaining the story-

"Do I really have to write this?"

"Yes because that's what I said!"

"It's literally flirting and I have a disorder called "Second hand cringe!"

"Just write the Darn story!

Fine!

-Back to story-

"Listen to me handsome, if you talk about my best friend that way again, I will hurt you and it will hurt more than when you fell from heaven!" Chris says angry.

At this point I'm trying not to laugh, though she's seriously defending me it's still... what's the word... cringe.

"See even Tris admits it!"

"Oh just shut up and listen! Trissy you can continue."

It's not even the funniest part too! When I looked up I found Will actually looking scared!

"You little *Beeep* You said you wouldn't tell her that!"

-Will and Tris start fighting in the background, me and Chris wondering what the hell is happening, and Chris walks over to Will, pulls him aside, and kisses him-

"Now for the love of Factons stop fighting with Tris!"

-coughs- "can we get back to the story? I wanna get it done and released before 2025."

I can't hold it back anymore and laugh and they look at me.

"Ok I got to admit it's weird seeing a abnegation laughing!" Chris says.

"Ya I agree with ya cute-" suddenly he stops and the whole room goes silent.

Marcus or the devil in human form is on the stand,

If you don't want to die of boredom skip ahead to the next bolded text

"Welcome to the Choosing Ceremony. Welcome to the day we honor the democratic philosophy of our ancestors, which tells us that every man has the right to choose his own way in this world."

"Our dependents are now sixteen. They and it is now up to them to decide what kind of people they will be." Marcus's voice is solemn and gives equal weight to each word. "Decades ago our ancestors realized that it is not that is to blame for a world. Rather, they determined that it was the fault of human personality—of humankind's inclination toward evil, in whatever form that is. They divided into factions that sought to eradicate those qualities they believed responsible for the world's disarray."

My eyes shift to the bowls in the center of the room. Where millions of people have chosen new factions.

"Those who blamed aggression formed Amity."

"Those who blamed ignorance became the Erudite."

"Those who blamed duplicity created Candor."

"Those who blamed selfishness made Abnegation."

"And those who blamed cowardice were the Dauntless."

But I am not selfless enough. Sixteen years of trying and I am not enough. Also Tobias is in dauntless too, if he even survived initiation, or maybe he broke his promise about not forgetting me. My legs go numb, like all the life has gone out of them, and I wonder how I will walk when my name is called.

"Working together, these five factions have lived in peace for many years, each contributing to a different sector of society. Abnegation has fulfilled our need for selfless leaders in government; Candor has provided us with trustworthy and sound leaders in law; Erudite has supplied us with intelligent teachers and researchers; Amity has given us understanding counselors and caretakers; and Dauntless provides us with protection from threats both within and without. But the reach of each faction is not limited to these areas. We give one another far more than can be adequately summarized. In our factions, we find meaning, we find purpose, we find life."

Marcus adds, "Apart from them, we would not survive."

The silence that follows his words is heavier than other silences. It is heavy with our worst fear, greater even than the fear of death: to be factionless.

Marcus continues, "Therefore this day marks a happy occasion—the day on which we receive our new initiates, who will work with us toward a better society and a better world."

He starts calling name after name until it's my turn.

Hi there

"Beatrice Prior!" He calls

I get up slowly and walk to the bowls, last chance to change my mind.

Erudite- that's a definite no, there selfish and stuck up.

Abnegation- I could see myself living out my life, selflessly and... boring.

Dauntless- it will be hard but it would be fun, I would live my life to the fullest, with the only person I've ever loved.

I walk over to the bowl of burning coals and cut my hand. Slowly my blood drips into the coals with a sizzle.

I am selfish

I am brave.
